Moore taken to hospital after late hit

Carolina Panthers quarterback Matt Moore was taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, after taking a vicious hit late in Sunday's 31-18 loss at New York.

Team officials weren't certain that he'd make the flight back to Charlotte with the team, and had no further word on his condition.

Moore, who was sacked four times and threw three interceptions, doubled over on the field after being sacked late in the fourth quarter by Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora. He was helped to the bench, in obvious discomfort. Rookie Jimmy Clausen finished the game. "It's tough," left tackle Jordan Gross said. "When a left tackle gets beat, bad things happen."

Hope Moore is okay. If he is still hurt, please don't play him. He worked to become the starting QB for now.

Every QB in general has good and bad days, but man he was horrible today. Jeff D, wake the hell up and run the ball alot more, especially being in the red zone.

3 straight pass plays, wow a horrible offensive coordinator.

Moore had a shot..Then line did not cause high "jake D" throws and the 3 int's. Clausen should get the next start.

At least Fox cant wait until week 12 to make a QB change.

@george

What happends if Clausen has one of thos horrible games. Should Pike get to start the next game? lmfao.

Even the last interception, everyone saw the relief "stewart" open. Give me a break. Why force it. Also bad play calling near the endzone. Where was the run on first and goal at the 5.

Armanti Edwards

Stewart might have been open, but he wsn't going to get far. He needs to take what the defense gives him

Carolina can blame themeselves for this lost.

I mean really,,, if you have someone that's suppose to be that good, play the kid..
Lets not waste no more time..

Clausen will take his lumps like all rookie qbs do but, Moore is not the answer and won't be around next year.

Fox needs to start Jimmy.

I thought the Panthers were a running team. Where was Jonathan Stewart? Where were the runs in the red zone? The Panthers were in the redzone a lot and put themselves in positions to score touchdowns. The offensive playcalling was suspect and didn't do the defense any favors.

Speaking of injured QBs.Peppers sacked Stafford, caused him to fumble, and knocked him out of the game...

Another show of terrible play calling! You run all the time on third and long, then get into the redone and pass? When you have two of the best rbis in the league? Davidson and Fox need to be fired. Get rid of everyone but Meeks. In fact, make Meeks the HC. Fox and Davidson are killing a team with a lot of talent!

I'm sure Matt is OK. Just looked a little shook up. He'll be back next week. Hopefully he can get over the pressure of being (officially) number one. And @ Adam: Pike may be the best of the bunch!

Panthers go 4-12 this year. Clausen will be starter second half of season.

OMG I've got it!! it's a scam. he's not really hurt, but it makes a great excuses to start Jimmy..

Posted by: me | Sep 12, 2010 5:45:39 PM

It's the first game folks. Relax! Switching QB's right now is the dumbest thing we could do. You have to remember, Moore is still a young QB and he will play like one from time to time. He made some poor decisions, but worse, the O Coordinator made some poor play calls. For teh most part, the D looked very good. Would like to see more Hardy, though.

Be careful what you ask for. The last rook that started for Carolina "quit" the team as I recall.

Special teams suck. Godfrey and Marshall on defense need to be cut! they kept getting the yellow flag on every freak'n pass play. Matt Moore, please don't throw the ball to 15 Giants players in the right corner of the endzone. Thanks!!

Posted by: Pat Daddy | Sep 12, 2010 5:48:18 PM

3rd and 15 draw run. 3rd and 1 pass play. nice calls u idiot

Posted by: Josh | Sep 12, 2010 5:48:53 PM

Yes Moore didn't have a great game.. but the OL line not blocking anyone on the 2nd half did not help, it seemed like every play Moore was getting hit. Also Moore doesnt line up as the second WR or CB or Safety...

Sorry that he got hurt, however, that was one of the worst performances of a QB that i have ever seen. A lot of what he did was not what the OC wanted. you could tell by the look on his face. Was the "Why did you do that and nor what i said look". I think this game should bring him back down out of the clouds and he will realise that he is no bettter than a back up QB at best

Posted by: TeddyN | Sep 12, 2010 5:52:39 PM

Moore very likely had a concussion, and I would not be surprised if they sat him next game.

Clausen may get his shot, completely unrelated to Moore's play.

Moore did not play, but he didn't get a ton of help either. He deserves more than one chance, especially after his games last year.

I hope the best for Moore. Even if he is benched, I hope he can make it back some place. He has a lot of courage to stand back there and take the hits, I just wish he had found some place to go with the football...
