Final: Falcons 31, Panthers 10
Generally speaking, when the Carolina Panthers run for more than 200 yards, it's a good thing.
Sunday, it wasn't nearly enough, as they lost 31-10 to the Atlanta Falcons at Bank of America Stadium.
The Panthers gained 212 of their 288 net yards on the ground, which speaks to the good work done by RBs Jonathan Stewart and Mike Goodson as well as the struggles of QB Jimmy Clausen.
Stewart finished with a season-high 133 yards on 18 carries, and Goodson added 70 yards and scored a touchdown for the third straight week.
The Panthers fell to 1-12, and kept pace for the first pick in the draft. Buffalo and Detroit fell two games back by winning their third games (beating Cleveland and Green Bay, respectively), while Cincinnati held serve at 2-11 by losing to Pittsburgh.

The Panthers are worst than the worst UFL team. Maybe they should get out of the football business!!!!1

If any concession:
The Browns (5-8) were mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. McKelvin intercepted Jake Delhomme's pass with under 4 minutes left at the Bills 32, and Buffalo was able to run out the clock.
Delhomme also lost a fumble on the previous possession, which led to Lindell's second field goal.

Same circus, different clowns....The Atlanta Falcons are a great team and a natural rivalry for Carolina...Watching the game from Raleigh, I couldnt believe how empty the stadium was for a division, natural geographic rivalry....I am taking bets on the over -under attendance when the mighty Arizona Cardinals clown act led by concussed Derek Anderson visit us nex week....I'll take under 30,000.....

just wondering: how many false starts and/or turnovers do you think the Panthers have committed within the first 4 plays of games this year?

Best pass of the game: Armanti Edwards completion for no gain in the first quarter. Too bad the rest of the offensive attack lacked ANY creativity.

@ David Kempert - I was at the game, and started tailgating at 7:30 am in a down pour of rain, temperature was dropping by the hour, and winds picked up quite a bit..There really wasn't that many Falcons fans, and by the end of the game, there were very few fans. Since I never leave a game early, it was a nice quiet walk back to my car 7 blocks away. If the weather is cold, and windy, 30,000 fans might be a stretch. But I will be there in the seats like every game, since 1995.

Jerry Richardson has invited the award winning Butler High School football team to the next Panthers practice to give the 'pros' some well needed pointers. A quote from PSL owner Tom Gentry "The Panthers should suit up the Butler High School team, it couldn't get any worse and more than likely it would get better with Butler players in Panther uniforms". The few fans at attendance in Sunday's slaughter said they thought they heard Jake, Peppers and Brad Hoover laughing loudly among the empty seats.

Clausen is terrible in the pocket, out of the pocket, and whereever else. Laughingly so, he thinks he's the future for the Panthers. If Marty Hurney has his way, Clausen probably is the future.....two losers....may be selling the PSLs next season. I've had it with this mediocre personnel that Richardson has working for him.

WTH has happened? This looks like "Joes vs PROS" and the Panthers are the Joes. Clausen can't hit Smith at full stride. Clausen's agent gets the "Eskimo Award",He could sell an Eskimo snow, and a freezer to put it in, someone got payed off for that deal. The offence just has no leadership, the play calling is from the JV play book. Richardson don't want to answer any questions, I wouldn't either. The economy has hit football along with NASCAR, heck that's another FUBAR in and unto itself. I still pull for our team but we need talent bad!

With a new coach on the way and the #1 pick (almost) in our grasps, this thing will turn around. Tampa and ST. Louis were the worst teams in the league last year and look what they are doing. NFL is all about parody and the Panthers will be back.
