Wharton to IR, he makes 14
The Panthers moved their injured reserve list to 14, by placing G Travelle Wharton on IR along with DE Everette Brown and LB Jason Williams.
Wharton's been down with a turf toe problem, and didn't appear likely to come back anytime soon.
To fill their roster spots, the Panthers promoted Dt Corvey Irvin and CB R.J. Stanford from the practice squad. They still have one spot left on the 53-man roster, which they'll likely fill today.
They also signed DT Tommie Duhart to the practice squad. The 6-foot-4, 330-pounder transferred from Pitt to Valdosta State for his senior year. He recently worked out for Seattle.
The Panthers have another practice squad spot open as well.

Is Fox going to use losing 14 players to IR as the reason for not winning?

It's all about creating jobs.
Panthers can never put two "healthy" seasons together. Note over the past few years that when injuries are limited, they are successful on the field. Look at Atlanta, they have no major injuries. Neither do the Pats. Colts are struggling because of injuries. Saints are doing well again. All those teams also have good QBs too.

jim harbaugh welcome to charlotte. need to hire a head coach who was an nfl qb. need to hire an offensive play caller who played qb in nfl. need to hire a qb coach who played qb in nfl. panthers need to make sure luck has more support than any panther qb has ever had.

I just got a feelin the Panther's will mest this up. They'll probably trade the pick or maybe Luck will stay in school. Then Marty Hurney will come out and say it's OK because they are happy with Clausen.

Make sure you fire all the trainers after this season, too. There's got to be a reason the Panthers always lead the league in IRs.

cam newton is jason campbell 2.0... forget him, go with andrew luck. think about it, you think that if the dolphins could re-do it, that they'd pass on matt ryan?

Yes sir. That is how he works it and "seems" years past when we have had all players hurt and on IR, is every season the schedule was harder.
Season starts bad looking like Panthers are not making the playoffs, they start piling up.
Some fans have such an emotional attachment to someone, that the realistic view of that person is skewed. Just like in Dallas with Landry, smaller scale obviously.

oh and before one of those fans comes crying and talking about how young Panthers are...
Panthers "D" have played well and how young are they.
So that leaves Jake,Hoover and Moose. Jake has been awesome for the Browns right(LOL),
so Hoover and Moose would have made us a playoff team this year?? I'll throw Jake in there as well.

Scam Newton sucks! his receivers made him look good. He will flop in the NFL watch and see. He is another Reggie Bush cheater and will have to turn that trophy back in. SCAM SCAM SCAM Newton

Cam Newton is the new Michael Vick...ehhh, no! Cam Newton is the new Vince Young...ummm, that's not good either. Cam Newton will be the new.... hmmmmm...
Whatever, he may not be the best passer, but he will be the most dynamic QB out of the 2011 draft! That O-line is much like the rag-tag swiss cheese front that Seifert had to work with. We will need a leader who can make things happen back there.
Do you want Eli Manning/Phillip Rivers type or do you want dynamic!??

I prefer Luck over Newton if Luck comes out in the draft.
Big QB's take too many hits early in their career and it comes back to haunt them later.
Culpepper, McNair, even McNabb (several injuries over his career).
Luck is a more pure passer which is what you need in this league.
Look at Matt Ryan in Atlanta, Bradford in St. Louis ... oh yeah, don't forget about Brady, Peyton Manning, Brees, Rivers, and the other Manning...did I mention Kurt Warner?

I'd take Luck, Mallett, even the Moore kid from Boise before even considering Newton.
