Panthers inactives at Atlanta

Panthers coach John Fox is going to have to try to win his last game without WR Steve Smith.

The veteran was inactive after a mid-week calf strain left him unable to play in today's finale. That puts rookie QB Jimmy Clausen with four wideouts, three of whom are rookies also.

The rest of the healthy scratch list included: CB R.J. Stanford, S Gerald Alexander, LB Thomas Williams and C Chris Morris. Also down for the Panthers were CB Chris Gamble and DT Ed Johnson (who stayed home because of injuries), and third quarterback Keith Null.

...the one he'll sign with for the 2013 season as a free agent?

I have a feeling we've seen the last of Steve Smith in a Panthers uniform. And I honestly can't blame him. He doesn't want to go through a rebuilding project at this point in his career, particularly with Jimmy Clausen or another rookie as his QB.

I think his amazing TD @ NYG last season where he broke his arm may be our last great memory of Smitty....the best player in franchise history.

The whole darn offense looks pretty much inactive for this game.
