Panthers coaching staff nearly complete

The Panthers have hired Joe Kenn to be their strength coach, and only need an assistant for him to finalize their coaching staff.

Kenn has most recently worked out of the Proehlific Park facility of new Panthers offensive consultant Ricky Proehl (a former college teammate as well), but has an extensive resume at the college level.

Most recently, he was strength coach at Louisville, but has also worked at Arizona State, Utah and Boise State.

Hopefully all the money Jerry saved this past season, he is using to hire a motivated coaching staff for next year. Comeback with a new CBA, spend the "new" money on some quality free agents, and wah la! Sounds like a plan to me. But what do I know?

You don't know that "wah la" is spelled voila. lol

some people will gripe about anything in the news. The strength coach is still part of the coaching staff and I consider it news.

Strength and Conditioning is what athletics is all about. At the end of the 4th Quarter, the team in the best physical condition should dominate.

HEY THFC...THINK ABOUT ALL THE INJURIES THAT OCCURRED. I THINK OUR TEAM WAS IN THE TOP 5 WITH PLAYERS ON IR. STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING IS ONE OF THEM. AND I DONT BELIEVE RICKY GOT HURT AT ALL DURING HIS CAREER SO FOR THIS HIRE TO COME FROM HIS STAFF IS BIG NEWS WHEN YOU LOOK AT IT. THE PANTHERS HAD SOME REAL BIG INJURIES LAST YEAR THAT COULD BE DUE TO THE STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING AND REHABING.. OR LACK THERE OF.....(DAVIS,OTAH,WILLIAMS) THESE INJURIES JUST MAYBE COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED WITH A DIFFERENT STYLE OF CONDITIONING. SO THIS IS QUITE POSSIBLY JUST AS IMPORTANT A HIRE AS THE HEAD COACH. I SAY THAT BECAUSE WHAT GOOD IS A HEAD COACH IF ALL HIS PLAYERS CANT PLAY BECAUSE THEY ARE ON INJURED RESERVE.

I CONCUR @BILL.
WHEN A TEAM HOLDS OFF ITS OPPONENTS AND IS DOWN BY 7 OR LESS GOING INTO THE HALF AND THEN ALL A SUDDEN GETS BLOWN OUT IN THE SECOND HALF AND/OR LOSES ITS LEAD THATS DUE TO THE PLAYERS BECOMING TIRED AND WEARING DOWN.

do you have to type with caps lock on? makes you look young, immature, and ignorant, no matter the quality of what you had to say, because most people wont read it

The best thing we can do is for Coach Rivera to sign Nnamdi Asomugha. He has seen this guy play for several years in the AFC West. Draft Nick Fairley. I would tell Hurney to do what he did two and three years ago. Thank God he did not do it this year and that was give away the first round pick. Expecting great things this year--trade away 2012 first round pick for a first this year or trade for most likely a second round pick this year. By doing so that would allow us to get Cam Newton if he is available or another lineman. Or Hurney can trade away next years first for Vince Young. Hurney enjoys wheeling and dealing on draft day. This may not be it but expect some deals to go down. If nothing else, Asomugha should be seriously looked at with most likely drafting Fairley. The Panthers defense would then be set. The rest of the picks can be for the offensive or a special teamer. GO PANTHERS!!!

Not certain about the Asomugha idea. He will certainly be expensive. That could elicit too many memories of Peppers should there be a game where Asomugha allows a completion. Yes...there is some sarcasm in there, but the way the 'fans' unleashed on Peppers I would say the expectations for Nnamdi would be very high. Almost unattainable.

These posters wanting McNabb are probably the same ones wanting Cowher. We don't need either - they're both over the hill!!

I'm very much liking the staff that Coach Rivera has put together for the Panthers. Now I just hope that he goes out there and get us some quality free agents. We could really use a veteran QB like Kyle Orton, McNabb, Young, Hasseleback, or Kelvin Cobb. Then we could draft Cam Newton so that he and Clauson would have someone to sit behind and learn how to play on the NFL level. Asomugha could be a good move and getting Vincent Jackson to play with Smith could be another. I'm just really excited about the possibilities and I hope we get this CBA thing taken care of soon. PANTHERS FOR LIFE!!!!
