Panthers hire Proehl

The Panthers added a familiar face to their coaching staff Tuesday, announcing that Ricky Proehl was joining the staff as an offensive consultant.

Proehl will work primarily with receivers coach Fred Graves. This is his first coaching job, after a 17-year NFL career that included three seasons (2003-05) with the Panthers.

He finished his career with 669 catches for 8,878 yards and 54 touchdowns.

Excellent news. I have no complaints on any of the coaching moves except Jim Skipper. There is obviously something that Rivera or Hurney didn't like there. As long as it wasn't a prelude to not re-signing DWill, I'll trust in their judgement.

Great hire! The best of luck to you Ricky.

I agree, Good hire, as long as we get D-will back I'm not too upset about the Skipper deal either.

So far no bitching or moaning from the complainers who wanted Ricky P here. You got your wish, shouldn't be nothing else to complain about. Can't escape the complaining regardless, always going to be negative respondes.

Jim S will be miss by players and fans. But also lets be serious, he was horrible at teaching them how to pick up blitzes.

"brad hoover rb coach"

Maybe he will teach them how to block? He sure was solid at blocking free defenders not getting to the QB.

I'm feeling really good about the possibilities of this combination of graves(senor coach who has seen it all and has had success) and proehl (up to date hungry rookie coach who was an expert route runner and master of technique/jam out to prove he can turn any rookie into a pro bowler) working together to develop our young group of wide outs .. the addition of graves/proehl in my mind should be able to turn either lafell/gettis or even Edwards into at the very least a legitimate receiving threat in 2011..not to mention we will most likely upgrade WR via FA or draft ..we just need depth at oline either guard or tackle in the draft/FA.. Clausen better step the fuck up with shula teaching him now there is simply no excuse we have the talent AND the coaching now ...

Edwards...a legitimate receiving threat?

Yo Wtf is right ! listen idiot ... there's simply no denying Edwards is a hell of an athlete .. not saying this year he's going to make a difference production wise but with Ricky spending the time anything is possible in 2012.. that previous sentence was meant more for gettis / lafell but obviously u couldn't pick up on that now could ya?

D Willams is gone. Add T Davis and Kalil to that list as well. As I have been saying for some time, last year will look good to us after next season. 0-16. Book it.

We must have a magician on these boards with these wild predictions of the future. I wonder what happends if Kalil, Williams, and Davis stay along no 0-16 record in 2011?

how would anybody know if edwards is or isn't any good?

Gotta love your optimistic outlook(sarcasm highly intended)...dude, why don't you just bail now and find some other bandwagon to jump on. Fans like you give real fans of this franchise a bad name.

ANSWER: He's 5'8" tall and 180 lbs soaking wet. And don't try to compare him to the size of a Smitty, Smitty is tough and has taken big hits his whole life. Armanti wuold crumble

Give Edwards a break ! He did not draft himself. Is Hurney running the offense !
Did Hurney pick Davidson? If I was coaching this team I might put Edwards to use because I have Imagination and you do not dork!

Why bother being a fan if that's your outlook on things? How about supporting your team and hoping for improvement instead of stupid comments like that.

Congratulations Ricky! I hope someday you'll be a head coach in the NFL. Help get our young receivers up to speed.

He would crumble eh? You might want to tell DeSean Jackson that since he weighs what, 175? Yeah, he crumbles a lot... Funny how you know how "tough" Armanti is when you haven't even see him play a game.
