Other than winning at Philly in the NFC Championship Game...

And you'll still read the panthers articles... No one cares about your thoughts on philly. You might have missed this, but this is the CHARLOTTE OBSERVER. So go back to philly cheese steak

Beating Philly is not the Panther's measuring stick. Besides, Philly has been around a long time, what "Super Bowl" has Philly won?

The area writers are in love with Cam Newton because it will garner a lot of national attention and give them an opportunity to move up in the "media ranks." Cam Newton will be a huge mistake and is a gamble this organization cannot afford to take. DT is just as big a need and WR is not far behind the two. It makes no sense whatsover this love affair with Cam Newton. He is not an elite QB, and he won't be for possibly a long time.

Rivera picks Newton he is DONE as a headcoach for good. I just can't see Rivera taking such a gamble with his 1st and only HC job if he picks Newton...And Hurney ,I really don't think he'll risk his Last GM job either being the weasel he is after thew Clausen disaster.

I think the real reason Charlotte doesnt wat cam newton is because the color of his skin. We all know that the richardsons have a track record for not having any black quarterbacks except for when rodney peete played under center and he got yanked the first half of a game on the firts game of the season. but Jake Delhomme can stink up the feel for several games and never get benched...hmmmmm!!!!

The only thing you hear about is who they draft number one What about the two picks in the 3rd round and the first one in the 4th? That's 3 more possible starters.

@ Jake i agree ,and EVERYBODY will remind them FOREVER!

CarolinaBalla = Pathetic attempt to stir the race pot.

Posted by: Peach Cat | Apr 27, 2011 10:56:43 AM

I think the team is trading back with 89 as a part of it...89's house has been for sale and all of a sudden he cleans out the suite at BOFA and his locker?..Trade is imminent IMO...It COULD be NE ,since they have our 2nd rnd pick from the Edwards debacle ,makes since they get 89 and the player that could push them to another ring!

Posted by: Cecil Newton | Apr 27, 2011 10:57:41 AM

Carolinaballa ,it has to do with hardly ANY scout/GM being SOLD on Cam ,NOT just here ,but every media outlet ESPN/NFL network/CBS/PFW/FOX ALL have doubts on his character/abilty to learn a playbook and work ethic...quit playing the race card that don't work anymore...This is not a team for Auburn fans.

ESPN's the Herd just challenged his management. He said he would bet his paycheck vs there's that Cams a BUST!..That's killing him!

Posted by: Nick Saban | Apr 27, 2011 11:07:25 AM

USUALLY ,teams have announced(leaked)to the media on who there taking?..UNless they have a TRADE brewing!..The FO has done anything ,but dodge the question!..Hmmm 89 cleans his stuff out too...Hmmm!

Posted by: QB | Apr 27, 2011 11:11:16 AM

I had character issues ,but look how i turned out!

Posted by: Rae Carruth | Apr 27, 2011 11:12:58 AM

The more the labor dispute go's on the LESS chance Cam or Green are here...What are they gonna do speed read for wk 1?..Yeah right...better go Defense or else!

Posted by: TWIGGY | Apr 27, 2011 11:16:34 AM

Posted by: CAPTAIN OBVIOUS | Apr 27, 2011 11:17:18 AM

@ Twiggy ,i agree 100% and you have to pay them what $40mil if it's a QB that might not play at ALL this year...JR ain't having that!

Posted by: Rob from NC | Apr 27, 2011 11:19:13 AM

Captain obvious ,your assuming that the judge has allowed a stay for the owners when she ruled AGAINST them EVERY time so far...NEW FLASH COULD BE DONE BY TOMORROW!

Posted by: QB | Apr 27, 2011 11:23:04 AM

@ CAPTAIN OBIVIOUS ,no ,but teams can PREPARE for the trade scenario!..what are they doing sitting on there hands?

Posted by: UNC | Apr 27, 2011 11:26:02 AM

Pick defense at least the learning curve will be quicker if this CBA goes down past the preseason...Dareus/Quinn/Peterson please!..The QB class is loaded next year!

Posted by: Hellfish | Apr 27, 2011 11:29:24 AM

Cam Newton is the bomb. U can't pass up on him. He will be the best quarterback we have ever had. Don't no y there r so many haters. Drafting a dt is the easy thing to do and the scared thing to do. U need to take t

Posted by: Hodges | Apr 27, 2011 11:29:27 AM

Some chances once in awhile. Why not with the best player in the draft and most upside

Posted by: Hodges | Apr 27, 2011 11:30:22 AM

Hodges this ain't Alabama ,you can root for another team that Cam bust's on!..NOT our's

Posted by: MRBernz | Apr 27, 2011 11:31:18 AM
