Shocker! John Fox declines 'Hard Knocks'
Despite the Denver Broncos' openness in the John Fox era, the ultra-secretive former Panthers coach isn't ready to be TOO open. The team has declined an opportunity to be the subject of HBO's "Hard Knocks," which profiles an NFL team with total access during training camp. Last season's show featured the New York Jets.
The Tampa Bay Bucs and New Orleans Saints have also reportedly declined.
Somebody call Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney.

I'm thinking following the first pick in the draft, along with a team trying to rebuild after having the worst record in the league a year prior is intriguing enough...plus it's looks like they're making their way thru the NFC South, ATL just needs to decline and we'll be set :)

The last thing we need is more a.d.d.on the team. Let the players and coaches get on the same page and then maybe next year do the H.B.O. thing.but until then let's focus on football and not becoming hollywood stars.

Alright yo dawg, you know, I don't know--it just wasn't that great to me. You're in this competition to separate yourself and, I don't know, I just wasn't feeling it, dawg. We're at that point in the competition where you gotta bring it. You gotta bring it, yo. You gotta be in it to win it. And I feel like this wasn't your week. I don't know--Steven?

Why is this in "Inside the Panthers" section
John Fox doesnt coach the Panthers anymore?

John Fox didn't want anyone to see his top secret play book, run-run-pass-punt

Because the ghost of Winthrop beat writer Darinn Gantt lives on. He was obsessed with all things John Fox and I guess has passed that trait on to his robot Joe Person.

I'm surprised HBO even approached Denver. How many times do you think hearing "It is what it is" and "we are who we are" could national viewers possibly stand?
Despite having Cam, I'm sure HBO has no interest in having us on the show. We have only 2 nationally-recognized names (well, one once Smith is traded), we're in a small market, and we're not Super Bowl contenders. Let them do Atlanta, so the rest of the nation can get sick of them and hate them like we already are and do...

Everbody stop acting like Fox is an ex-boyfriend and you are totaly done with him.
I think it's interesting to still hear about him and can't wait until the Broncos are losing and we can read about it and his lame unsatisfying answers in the press.
The same way I enjoyed reading about Jake's lousy season last year. It made me feel better during a period were the NFL wasn't as much fun for us.

Totally classless move by Fox wearing a Broncos shirt and using a Broncos golf bag while playing the Pro-Am at Quail Hollow.
I am soooooo glad he's gone!
Can you imagine what the Bronco fans are going to think when they get a load of one his arrogant press conferences? LOL! Can hardly wait to hear them howling!

I mean, i think you have to have a season first before you would consider wanting to do this show. I think for much is the reason why so many are declining at the moment...i mean, who wants to watch a bunch of coaches gathered at a table talking,"man, i wish Von Miller was hear so i can coach em up!" Lol! Just a thought.

Very stupid show anyway, and I am a psl owner since the first day they could be purchased so I am a very big NFL fan. Last years shows were the worst so far. Rex Ryan is an a$$hole.

Regardless of the verdict in the Beason trial it still put stain on the franchise and another nail in the Panther coffin as if it needed anymore. Somebody hit the guy and busted up his face inside a lowlife skank alcohol joint of ill repute. The real truth will come out in the end as it always does.
Strip clubs, cocaine, assault, criminal charges, trials etc. All the right ingrediences for failure and the continued downfall of not only the organization but the NFL in general not to mention pro sports overall.
But then again maybe the bigger payback is the greedy player union with a 4 billion demand for freebie war chest plus 700 million in damages and climbing. Joke.
The 2011 season is gone. This will affect all pro sports in the end. Total revampment coming.
Its all outta control.

PanamaRed - what he wears at charity events may be stipulated in his contract. The Broncos might want their coach adorned in their gear/logos when at charity or public events.
Fox isn't that petty of a guy.

Yeah keep thinking that GK.... Shirt fine.. Golf bag REALLY? and the Event was in Charlotte = Petty.

Hard Knocks is a great show and invaluable publicity to an NFL team. Agree with the above posters who said Showtime probably doesn't know John Fox very well. "It is what it is" is about as forthcoming as he gets. Denver fans are about to become as frustrated as Charlotte fans were with the guy. He is what he is: Boring, arrogant, and unaccountable.
The perfect team for this year's Hard Knocks is Philly, for all sorts of reasons.

Cam Newton actually responded well to the interviews on NFL.com. Good Job! Hopefully he can bring it on the NFL turf also.
Looks like Greg Frye("THE BIG LOSER") is appealing the jury's decision. He probaly needs the money desperately, so he can afford to leave town.

Somebody please buy Greg Frye a plane ticket, and help get this parasite the hell out of Charlotte.

Elway, no Broncos shirt , no Broncos bag! Fox....all of the above.
Total jerk! Ask anyone who worked for Master Fox.
It I what it is......ZERO CLASS!

Beason hit Frye for ratting on him for doing coke. Idiots are ignorant to be down on Frye but had he not taken this as far youd be reading much worse. Strip joints booze and drugs are for loser lowlife slimewads. Both Beason and Frye were loser slimewads.
Thats why it was a big mistake to build the idiot stadium and other venues downtown where the sleeze is always located but we know you cant tell the hardheaded city leaders jackshit.
Beason better get down and thank Frye for saving his career and life. Dogs get one free bite but thats it.
If Beason didnt learn anything he will be in real trouble next time a lot worse.
He still slandered the NFL.
Frye saved your life Beason !!! FACT !!!

Mike Williams your an idiot, and have no clue what your talking about when it comes to Beason and Frye. FACT!!!

this case is over. beason spared. the divine works in mysterious ways. both plaintiff and defendant better polish up their acts. hit the church not the joints. thank Him for your many blessings. refrain from temptation. ends justify means. messiah saved mary magalene from being stoned to death telling them
" he without sin let him cast the first stone "... more importantly He then said " now go & sin NO more " ...
