Report: Steve Smith to stay with Panthers

ESPN's Adam Schefter talked to Steve Smith this morning, and Smith told him he'd remain with the Carolina Panthers.

"I'm going to be here and I'm ready to show people a side of me that they haven't seen," Smith said. "I'm staying in Carolina."

best athlete charlotte has ever had and he deserves to be here and finish his career, end with a statue and jersey retired.

thank god for the lockout to give time to let that mood swing die down a bit.

I am the best athlete Charlotte has ever had! Did you see me at the Krispy Kreme on Independence?

Now let go get Cam and Smith a Playmaker. I think steve smith from the NYG or edwards from the NYJ could be a good pickup hey even Roy William he might be cheap really need to get another offense playmaker

roll the dice on plaxico and then hope either lafell, gettis or edwards shapes into a solid 2nd/3rd option

He was never gonna leave. He has a commitment to the YMCA flag football league.

test

if we cornered the market on steve smithsises, that would be awesome but unrealistic. panther fans really have a tough expectation in replacing moose.....

to put it in perspective, when steve smith's career is done, we will have had 2 top 30 all-time nfl receivers (by statistics) during the same era with overlapping careers. sometimes people underrate what moose did. there's 30 teams in the league and we had 2 of the top 30 all-time at the same time. that's something. good luck replacing that kind of lighting.

Now all we can do is hope Smitty decides to play football this year instead of plotting his next move -and slugging teammates.

Hopefully they announce a good WR pickup today. If not, hopes will still be very low.

A double teamed Smitty with no #2 will take away our running game as well = no offense = no points = 2-14

YES YES YES, now where are you haters at. One more reciever, vet QB and some CB and we will shock the world.

"YES YES YES, now where are you haters at. One more reciever, vet QB and some CB and we will shock the world."

80% of nfl teams could say something like that.

Are some "fans" starting to jump back on the bandwagon with the waves the Panthers have made the past couple of days?

Right on, Smitty! Best news I've heard in quite a while. Now let's get another quality receiver.

Why is everyone saying we need a wide receiver ? Did you see getties numbers last year? and didn't become a full time starter until the end of the season. When you think about it this is why we want see any wr signings.3 WRS drafted last year plus one this year.

Relax, people. He's staying because he has VERY LITTLE trade value any more. They couldn't get anything for him that was better than what he brings. Simple as that....
