Beason limited at practice; still expected to play Sunday

Linebacker Jon Beason was limited in Panthers practice today after feeling soreness in his left foot following a full contact practice session on Wednesday but head coach Ron Rivera said he still expects the middle linebacker to play in the opener Sunday at Arizona.

"He was a little sore, more than we anticipated," Rivera said.

Beason participated in the team's morning walk through but wasn't active in the full practice in the afternoon.

"We didn't want to push our luck so we decided to hold him out," Rivera said.

Rivera said he expects Geoff Hangartner to start at right offensive guard where Mackenzy Bernadeau is progressing in his recovery from turf toe.

Let Jon Beason rest and get healthy! We have plenty of competent depth at the linebacker position.

With Hangartner, every offensive starter outside of TE and FB and every defensive starter are Panthers draft picks.

Has anyone signed Gerard Warren? Are we going to "stand pat" at DT.

I say let Beason rest as well, there is no need in rushing him so he can hurt himself because the Panthers might need some time before they are competitive. Hopefully Geoff can add that extra push on the line needed to give Cam time to check his reads.
