Otah questionable for game vs. Bears

Just when it looked like Panthers right tackle Jeff Otah would be OK health-wise, the team has downgraded the oft-injured player from probable to questionable for Sunday's game at Chicago.

Otah has been dealing with a lower back injury this week. After Otah practiced in a limited basis Friday, his back tightened up, according to a team official.

Otah, who missed all of last season with a knee injury, was sidelined for the Week 2 loss against Green Bay with a concussion.

Undrafted rookie free agent Byron Bell started in place of Otah against the Packers, and held his own against outside linebacker Clay Matthews.

If Otah can't play Sunday, Bell will face an even tougher task in trying to block former Panthers DE Julius Peppers, who lines up at both end spots for the Bears.

So I guess the next injury will be an Eyelid or an Earlobe. Maybe he's(Otah) afraid "PEP" will make him look bad when he is on his side.

Otah is a very good tackle when healthy, but he is too injury prone (like T.Davis and also Dan Morgan when he was here). Bell shows potential and should get the start. Time to move on from these Panthers who stay injured all the time.

David definitely Otah is just like those guys, Monsters....

However you could tell Morgan and Davis would kill to be out there. Not sure I get that feeling from Otah. I understand he had some serious issues, but if your head is not in it ,players are bound to get hurt.

Some people are just prone to injuries and he's one of them. The problem is we're stuck with him, the good news is Byron Bell seems competent enough to replace him.

It looks like we will be lucky to get 8 games out of this guy for the year. If that is the case, we should cut our losses and get rid of this guy and find ourselves a good OT that wants to play!

Seems like Otah is "has an injury" for the tough games! He was OK for Arizona and Jacksonville but "injured" for Green bay and Chicago!

He needs to find a better manicurist, if he is going to be out for another game with a hangnail.

it's funny how people act they really know what is going on. i'm sure otah is tougher than any of you bums posting on here. the guy plays tackle in the nfl. Try playing tackle with a strained lower back when you have to crouch and get low then explode up. And @ surfsidejr he had a concussion in wk 2 u retard. He will play because he is tougher than all of you.

We really need line help on both sides of the ball. Jeff Otah has been really good when he's been there at full strength but has shown himself to being injury prone. Gross is getting old (certainly past his prime). A pair of really good pulling guards could make this a special offense.

No we don't know exactly what is going on, but it doesn't take a genius to see. Yeah he is tough just not tough enough I guess and we(bums) are not making millions of dollars.

And keep thinking he will play tom..

Glad to see Otah will probably be out. I'll be able to pad my stats against the rookie. Plus I'll be able to take several plays off and let Urlacher make the plays.

JP, I love it. But then again, that's what you've made your career on anyway, right?
