Panthers' Godfrey doubtful for Sunday

Panthers safety Charles Godfrey has been listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against Jacksonville. Godfrey suffered a concussion last week against Green Bay and hasn't practiced all week. "He's better, but he's probably not looking good for the weekend unless something miraculous happens," said coach Ron Rivera.

Godfrey is still undergoing tests and is being seen by an independent physician. He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by Jordan Pugh.

Gamble is the third defensive starter to go down this season. Linebackers Thomas Davis (knee) and Jon Beason (Achilles) are already out for the season.

Cornerback Chris Gamble (ankle) practiced on a limited basis. Rivera said he expects him to play Sunday. Quarterback Cam Newton (ankle) practiced and will play.

"Gamble is the third defensive starter to go down this season." Really....didn't you read this before you put it on this site? This happens a lot on here.

He got knocked the F out on that play, he was blocked along the sidelines. Hope we don't keep dropping like flies out here.

The Panthers are falling apart. Every decision Hurney has made has been flawed. I wouldn't be suprised if Cam gets knocked out for the season this week.

Just another reason to blitz he h*ll out of Gabbert. Don't give him time to pass.

Procton:What does Hurney have anything to do with players getting hurt/concussions? I would love to hear this reasoning.

@ nasty 704,

I appreciate your comments, but try hitting the post button just once next time. lol

how do injuries in a contact sport have ANYTHING to do with the GM? the only thing you could say would be "well the GM didn't do a good job providing depth"

except for the fact he did.

both pugh and conner and williams and gaither etc. etc. etc. have played well and are great backups. lafell has played well in place of gettis. bell played well for a rookie in place of otah. so again procton remind me of how this is a knock on hurney?

Honestly Pugh makes me nervous! Maybe Nickel isn't the best for him so hopefully he'll shine at SS.

@JRAUHAUSER64

I put the wrong space between 'you_r_job', i can spell. this guy is getting paid to make posts like this and fucks up regularly. He has a dream job of mine, something I would do for a hobby and just get paid expenses....and he regularly F's up what he reports, or doesn't really do much reporting. He should EASILY be able to put up an article a day, but he doesn't. And when he does its BS blurbs like this which is just a re-post of something from panthers.com or nfl.com. Joe needs to step it up, cause he's work out-put is pathetic.

Uh, Mitch ... Not really sure your response post actually helps your case. Try "his" instead of "he"s", consistent capitalization and punctuation, and a little class. The obscenities really expose your level of intelligence.

Oh, and one more thing, Mitch. You may want to check the "Posted by" line. Joe didn't post this blog.

i haven't noticed too much about joe's reporting per say....but he should definitely stay with that as opposed to trying to be a reporter on their little "vlog" or whatever where they try to look like a legit sports network. ish is amateur at best and he sounds like adam carrolla. Dude is not built for the camera at all.

and if local sports reporter is your "dream job" (to mitch) you sure are a heckuva dreamer.
