Otah expected to start vs. Bears

CHICAGO

Panthers offensive tackle Jeff Otah is active for today's game against the Bears, a good sign Otah's lower back injury will not keep him out of the lineup.

Otah was downgraded from probable to questionable Friday after his back tightened up on him following practice. But he made the trip to Chicago and is expected to get the start on the right side alongside guard Geoff Hangartner.

Cornerback Chris Gamble (concussion) leads the list of the Panthers' inactives. Gamble stayed in Charlotte this weekend after missing practice all week.

The other inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, TE/FB Richie Brockel, LB Jason Phillips, DT Andre Neblett, OT Lee Ziemba and DT Frank Kearse.

The Panthers liked what they saw last week from veteran DT Ron Fields, which likely led to them making Neblett inactive.
