Panthers place Jeff Otah on injured reserve

The Carolina Panthers have placed offensive tackle Jeff Otah on injured reserve, general manager Marty Hurney announced Wednesday.

Otah has battled a back injury in recent weeks, but Hurney said the decision to place him on injured reserve, which ends Otah's season, was based more on lingering issues from a knee injury that was operated on in both 2009 and 2010 and caused him to miss the 2010 season.

Hurney said the team was confident Otah could get healthy and play in the future.

The Panthers have signed offensive lineman Reggie Wells to take Otah's roster spot. Rookie Byron Bell, who has two starts in Otah's place, will be first one up at right tackle.

vikram, hes one of our first round draft picks from 2008. youve never heard of him because chances are youre not an orthopedic surgeon or a nutrionist. if you worked at a drive thru near the satdium yall would probably be on a first name basis with each other.

He's also probably your top offensive lineman when healthy - Who's Otah? With your run totals thus far, I'd be praying for his recovery.
