Darius Butler says daughter doing better

Darius Butler has made plenty of appearances at children's hospitals during his time as a Division I and NFL player.

But he was always visiting other people's children in those appearances. The Panthers' backup cornerback spent the last week at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Fla., keeping watch over his 3-month-old daughter, Milan, following her open heart surgery last week.

"We all do visits to children's hospitals," Butler said. "But you never think it's going to be your own child."

Butler said Milan will remain in intensive care at least two more weeks, but should make a full recovery. He said the emergency surgery was to correct a condition doctors discovered during a routine pediatrician's visit.

Butler missed last week's game against Minnesota. He was back for Wednesday's practice. But with the Panthers off the next four days during their bye week, Butler was headed back home to south Florida to be with his family.

"It's one of those things we've got to wait and see," Butler said. "But we have faith that she'll be fine."

Thanks for the update Joe. I pray all will be well. A nice guy and is fitting in well with the team. If he felt comfortable coming to practice, that is a great sign.
