First quarter blog: Panthers 10, Lions 0
The Panthers grabbed a 10-0 lead in the first quarter by forcing three turnovers.
Carolina forced turnovers on the Lions' first three possessions, twice picking off quarterback Matthew Stafford.
Linebacker James Anderson and safety Charles Godfrey had the interceptions. Godfrey's came in the end zone after Sherrod Martin deflected a pass intended for Calvin Johnson.
It gave Stafford, who is playing with a broken finger on his throwing hand, six interceptions in the last five quarters.
Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton threw an interception on Carolina's first drive.
But the Panthers capitalized on the next two takeaways, getting a 27-yard field goal from Olindo Mare and a 15-yard touchdown catch from Steve Smith.
The Panthers had three plays of 20 yards or more after managing just one in last week's 30-3 loss to Tennessee.

nice to see the coaches giving the young guys time to grow. way to go Pilares!!! Edwards, it's your turn to step up buddy. GO PANTHERS... BTW hopefully we'll never need a backup qb until Newton retires, but boy keeping more might have been smarter than Clausen
