James Anderson the latest injured LB
James Anderson is the only starting linebacker for the Panthers who has been able to avoid injuries this season.
Anderson left practice early after rolling his ankle during a drill. Panthers coach Ron Rivera said there was "a little bit of concern there," which is why the medical staff wanted to get Anderson into the training room to begin treatment.
Rivera predicted later that Anderson would be "fine" for Sunday's game against Tennessee. Anderson was receiving treatment and unavailable for comment.
Injuries have crippled the team's linebacker corps, beginning with season-ending injuries to starters and captains Jon Beason and Thomas Davis the first two weeks of the season.
Outside linebacker Thomas Williams (neck) joined them on injured reserve this week.
The Panthers have started seven linebackers this season. One of them -- Jason Phillips -- hasn't practiced in two weeks because of a strained calf.
"He worked today out on the grass. He had his cleats on and they had him moving around," Rivera said. "So we'll see how he is (Friday) morning."
The Panthers would be down to four healthy linebackers if Anderson can't play -- Omar Gaither, Dan Connor, Jason Williams and Jordan Senn, who is primarily a special teams player.
Rivera said DE Antwan Applewhite, who played linebacker in San Diego's 3-4 scheme, would be the emergency LB this week against Tennessee.

Has Everrette Brown signed with any one?
He might be a viable linebacker.
He wasn't strong enough to be an end.
Is he fast enough to play linebacker?

I think Brown is with San Francisco, but I might be wrong. It seems like someone picked him up recently.
