Ron Rivera looking for a win streak
Having won their first road game in two years, the Panthers next will try to take another baby step in the rebuilding process with their first winning streak since 2009.
The Panthers have not won back-to-back games since finishing the '09 season by winning three in a row against Minnesota, the Giants and New Orleans.
Sunday's 27-19 win at Indianapolis improved the Panthers to 3-8 – one more victory than they managed in 2010 during John Fox's final season.
Next up for the Panthers: A trip to struggling Tampa Bay (4-7), which has just a one-game edge over the Panthers for third place in the NFC South. The Panthers face the Bucs twice in a four-week stretch, and could escape the cellar by beating them.
But first-year coach Ron Rivera said he's more concerned with winning two in a row, and is not worried about the standings.
“That would be great for us as a team that's building. I think it would really help us with our confidence on the road,” Rivera said. “And it would help us in terms of our outlook.”
The Panthers haven't won consecutive road games since beating Tampa Bay and Arizona in 2009.

the heck with that. why would we want to win ourself right out of an early draft pick? I say that for the remainder of the season we should execute the opening kick off and then throw a white towell onto the field. hahaha. Or we could just let martin and gamble play all positions. That should get it done!

Really? Lose out for what? Having a top five pick 2 years in a row (including 1 as the #1 overall) really shouldn't be the goal of the franchise, not to mention could hinder them financially speaking. Panthers can draft a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball in the first 10-20 picks without drastically overpaying for a potential bust.. then sign a couple free agents on defense... having a draft pick in the first 5 picks doesnt guarantee anything .. they need to go for BPA defensively and they'll have a shot at being a playoff contender in 2012

Best player available in free agency? We did that this year. How'd that work out for ya? You guys need to face it, the panthers have one football player in their entire defensive backfield. That being Charles Godfrey! So just how many superstars do you figure to be available? Get real, the lower the pick, the better the player. Example: Jonathan Stewart!

Also, I truly like Rivera, but wouldn't it be nice to have an offensive minded coach for a change. I mean after watching last nights game with the saints, I mean come on, they're like a machine with Sean peyton and Brez. The kicker is, we've got the same tools as their offense. Face it, on our one and only trip to the super bowl, Fox didn't even have to think about our defense what with DelRio running around with his hair on fire.

Tony: Peyton probably begged Cam not to SHATTER his rookie passing record! I know, mediocre at best...

DelRio was not with the Panthers when we made the Super Bowl he was already gone!

ok cool joe, then enlighten us. who was the defensive chief and if you're correct, then was it the year before delrio got there or the year after he left?

Wow bunch of haters on here, not surprising coming from a bunch of trolls. The Panthers are just a few defensive players away from being a very competitive team. Losing Beason and Davis at the beginning of the season was huge. Getting back a healthy Beason will be a huge boost next season. I'm not sure about TD, but drafting a good defensive player and some free agents will help out. The offense is doing great, they just need some help on defense during the offseason.

ryan o, I was just asking a question because I hadn't really researched it. As for the stupid comment, keep ya mouth off me.

Strip club Beason is cooked. Forget him and besides he was ring leader involved in the pay for play scandal at Miami that just surfaced after he bought his way out of the assault charge and then got injured. He is trouble and injury prone. Stick a fork in him. His Cane teams sucked too. Worst ever.

Tony and Cool Cat: Thanks for reminding us of how smart we are, when compared to someone as stupid as you.
Never understood the desire some people have to put their stupidity on display.
