Titans 20, Panthers 3, end of 3rd quarter

If the Panthers are going to pull out a victory against Tennessee today, it's going to take a dramatic fourth-quarter comeback as the Titans hold a 20-3 lead entering the fourth quarter at Bank of America Stadium.

The good news for the Panthers in the third quarter is they finally scored, scratching out a 29-yard Olindo Mare field goal that was set up by Chris Gamble's franchise-record 26th career interception.

The bad news is the same problems that bothered them in the first half continued to affect them in the second half. After seeming to force a Tennessee punt from relatively deep in Titans' territory midway through the quarter, defensive end Charles Johnson was flagged for an unnecessary roughness penalty that allowed the Titans to maintain possession, though it soon led to Matt Hasselbeck throwing the interception to Gamble.

The Panthers continued to have trouble on first down with quarterback Cam Newton getting sacked for a seven-yard loss immediately after the interception. It was the third time Newton had been sacked on first down.

Late in the third quarter, Tennessee added to its lead with a 36-yard field goal by Rob Bironas with 35 seconds remaining.

Terrible. I've never seen a coach do a worse job getting his team ready to play after a bye week. Like Newton said, no one wants to pull for a bunch of losers. Despite being an exciting team, in the end, the Panthers are still the old Panthers.

It's funny that everybody is blaming the defense when the offense couldn't evevn score a touchdown. Cam Newton needs to get rid of the ball faster, he's holding the ball too long. What ever happened to quick slant routes in the middle?

Cam also needs to work on his passes to the sidelines. Most of those passes are off.
