Cam Newton likely Pro Bowl-bound
Cam Newton was third in the fan voting for the Pro Bowl, but couldn't crack the top three in the final balloting, which also includes players' and coaches' votes.
But he was close enough. A league source said Tuesday evening Newton is the NFC's first alternate and is expected to be in Hawaii for the Jan. 29 game.
Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and Eli Manning are the NFC selections. Rodgers and Brees quarterback arguably the top two teams in the NFC, while Manning can get the Giants in the playoffs with a win Sunday vs. Dallas.
So the odds are good one of those guys will be in the Super Bowl the following week in Indianapolis, and as such, will not be in Honolulu representing his conference.
Even if San Francisco -- or Atlanta or Detroit -- were to advance to the Super Bowl, there are always examples of players pulling out of the Pro Bowl.
It sounds like the NFL wants Newton in Hawaii. He's one of the most exciting young players in the league, and is putting the finishing touches on a rookie season for the ages.
It Newton progresses as he should, it could be the first of many trips to Honolulu for No. 1.

Stafford should have been the first alternate.

So Bama 13, How many other QB's that suck have thrown for (what will be) over 4000 yds in a season AND ran for more than 600 yds in the same season? Do the coaches and players typically vote QB's that suck into the pro bowl even as an alternate which means he was 4th in total votes. Yea, he must be pretty bad to be almost locked in as Rookie of the Year. Take the hate somewhere else. We don't want here.

Don't feed the trolls chaos03. Congrats to Smith & Kalil. I will be so glad when the Panthers finally dethrown the Aints. I am so sick of Drew Brees. The time will come when Newton will be a given for probowl selections. I cannot wait!

New Orleans scouts scour boards for the slighest hint or excuse to break a fcking loserazz enemy QB or WR neck in half. They found their their beloved Texas boy Drew Brees hater who wouldnt you know is some sorryazz pedo 3rd string xwaterboy pos. BEWARE... Everybody hates a child molestor. Die bitch.
6-10 sux. Lights out.
ps NEWSFLASH: ChicBears now squeamish to sign Slop for 2012 saying they dont see any future potential in the fool. Agree.

yeah that makes a lot of sense.
Cam got hosed, plain and simple. How Elisha Manning made it over him is a pure reflection of how large and biased the NY media market is. It's a joke.

Somebody tell the dopes at that dumb southern hick media there will be 75000 Pro Bowl-bound at the game live too in Honululu at Aloha Stadium mid January plus about 30 million watching via satellite.
Tickets still on sale for 200 smacks each exclud air and hotel fare of 2500.
Newton NOT selected you idiots. You must be in the top 3 and be glad Peyton is out. Your 6-9 Panthers are rated #21 out of 32 teams as of this week ... awesome dude...

Why would you even bring Peyton up to begin with, his team is an AFC team.

Indianapolis upset because your guy was hurt all year and so terrible without him? Find him some better surgeons. You could try NYC or LA. Colt fans are such rich elitist assholios. Dave Letterman is proof.

Why on earth would a Colts fan even post here?
Anyway I really hope Newton gets the chance to go to the Pro Bowl. There has never been a season for a QB like this, let alone a rookie. Hope is back in Carolina.

Well said Tyler! Newton has put together a season for the ages! Not just a rookie! But any QB in history! If it weren't for our tough losses and his high interception rate, it wouldn't even be an argument!
The haters can speak all they want, but the fact remains that Carolina is back on the map and will be a force to reckon with for years to come!
