Jordan Gross inactive for Panthers

The Panthers will be without their veteran left tackle today against Atlanta.

Jordan Gross is inactive with an ankle injury he sustained late in last week's win at Tampa Bay.

Gross did not practice all week and was listed as questionable on the injury report.

Travelle Wharton shifts from guard to tackle, while Mackenzy Bernadeau will take Wharton's spot at left guard. Wharton, who played left tackle at South Carolina, took over at the position in 2009 after Gross went on injured reserve in Week 5 with a broken leg.

The rest of the Panthers' inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, CB Brandon Hogan, LB Jason Phillips, WR Darvin Adams, LB Kion Wilson and DE Eric Norwood.

The Falcons' inactives are QB John Parker Wilson, CB Brent Grimes, CB Kelvin Hayden, LB Stephen Nicholas, C Brett Romberg, OL Kirk Chambers and DE Cliff Matthews.

Mike Peterson will take over for the injured Nicholas at outside linebacker, while Dominique Franks steps in for Brent Grimes at left corner.

It will be interesting to see if the Panthers try to pick up on Franks early in the game.
