Panthers missing two defensive backs
A day after practicing indoors, the Panthers were back outside Thursday – but were still missing half of their secondary.
Strong safety Charles Godfrey (shoulder) and cornerback Captain Munnerlyn (hamstring) have yet to practice this week, casting doubt on their availability for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay.
Godfrey told trainers his shoulder was feeling better, while Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Munnerlyn was “still looking like he's hobbled.”
Rivera said he would make a decision on the players' status Friday.
“We'll see how they are,” Rivera said. “(Friday) will be the big day, I guess.”
Darius Butler, who missed last week's Houston game with post-concussion symptoms, would start at corner. Jordan Pugh would take Godfrey's spot.
“It's next guy up,” Rivera said. “Jordan's the next guy in the rotation. So he's working in it.”
Defensive end Greg Hardy was the only other player to miss practice. Hardy was sick.
DE Charles Johnson (back) was limited, while Butler, left tackle Jordan Gross (ankle) and TE Jeremy Shockey – who was given the day off Wednesday – were full participation.

Well, with injuries come opportunities for the next player to step up. Looking forward to the Panthers crushing the Bucks on Saturday. Secondary is a major need in the off season.

Secondary should be the primary pick in the draft. It's a good draft for DB's, and boy do we need help back there. (A lot of the guys we have now are serviceable starters, but we need a star back there.)

@Bull City Dog ,Uh the DL is where we need to start first maybe with our 1st 2 picks. CB 2nd then LB depth. Carolina is Good to go on offense esp. with Gettis coming back next year. I would'nt bother me if every pick was on Defense as long as we get players NOT from the Big east or Pac 12...SEC/ACC please.
