Payton plans to start QB Brees against Panthers

New Orleans coach Sean Payton said he and his Saints team have a simple philosophy regarding their regular-season finale Sunday against the Panthers in the Superdome:

"Our plan, we're playing it full speed ahead," Payton said today on a conference call with reporters.

There had been speculation that the Saints may rest some of their key players, including quarterback Drew Brees, who broke the NFL's single-season passing record Monday night against Atlanta. The Saints can still land the No. 2 seed in the NFC playoffs but it will require a victory over the Panthers and the unlikely event of the St. Louis Rams, with just two wins, upsetting the San Francisco 49ers.

Asked specifically if Brees will start against the Panthers, Payton said:

"I'm not announcing the starters but that's the plan. You can print that if you want to."

Payton said the 12-3 Saints want to be sharp when the playoffs begin, whether they have a first-round bye or not.

"We just met as a team and where we're at is we're still week to week trying to get better, trying to be in the best possible position for the playoffs and also improve as a team," Payton said.

"There's a lot of things we need to improve on as we get closer to the postseason. We're looking forward to this week of practice and playing our last regular-season home game here.

"Carolina presents a huge challenge in that they're playing real well. They're playing with a lot of confidence and we see that statistically and we see that on film when you watch them."

Great, let the Saints play their starters and take their best shot.It will be a good measuring stick and evaluation process for Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers.

Why wouldn't he play? They're going for a first-round bye and Brees has to pad those huge stats. I know one thing...it's gonna be a shootout! Go Panthers!!

NO playoff, NO Super Bowl, NO Pro Bowl, NO Nuttin. The Newton retard is clearly an unpopular BUM. America not impressed with lying cheat thievin overhyped scammers. A few local yocal freaks, homos, oddballs, pervs, pedophiles, etc have their heads up his butt but noone else. Time for Saint D to bust up a few neckbones Sunday and let the real deal All Pro Drew do the rest. Teach young Bozo the clown a lesson. Smoke his azz. Harper needs to finish the job too.

6-10 as good as it gets.

"Cam OK - for now - with Pro Bowl"

WTF? So he may change his mind? FYI The Chicago Bears interest in Newton is gone so no 100 mill buy out. No others wants him.

Word is the Charlotte Observer is secretly trying to get rid of Newton to sign their previous fav ANDREW LUCK ...

Long before $cam Newton crawled out from under his AU rock the Observer was gaga for ANDREW LUCK but he stayed at Stanford. They were terribly distraught.

Per insiders the CO wants ANDREW LUCK for 2012 and will do anything to get rid of NEWTON ... SHAZAM !!

The Panthers keep killing there draft position by beating bad team's or team's with there #1 QB out...The Panther's need ALOT on the D side of the ball ,as a matter of fact it would'nt bother me if every pick was on D...2 DT's/CB/DE/LB to start with...Offense is good.

Those of you who criticize Cam just won't wake up and smell the coffee. He and Auburn were looked at with a magnifying glass for over a year. Just in case you've had your heads in the sand, both Cam and Auburn were cleared. If there had been anything to find, the NCAA would have found it. Move along with your wishful thinking. There is nothing to see here except an outstanding QB with a bright future. Your lives must be pretty empty, it you hold onto that much hate for someone you have never even met....,and probably never will.

You Cam haters are just stupid and don'tecognize an exceptional athlete when you see one or maybe you are just jealous because he is not on your team.

Hey 'five time world champs', weren't you the guy who was posting 5-11 go Bucs last week, 4-12 go Texans the week before that, 3-13 go Bucs 2 weeks before that, and 2-14 go Colts the week before that?

And Super Cam Fan, for future reference, the name of the poster goes UNDER the post, not above. Or did you post all that junk about Andrew Luck, instead of 'insider buzz'/'five time world champs'/'i am a loser in life who gets attention by trolling message boards', or any of the other 150 different names this idiot has been using all season?

For positive proof that the Christmas and New Years holidays bring out the posts of a few crazies, one only has to read "five time world champs" comments.
