Kellen Winslow wanted Chud in Tampa
Most Carolina Panthers' fans -- not to mention the front office -- breathed a sigh of relief Thursday when Tampa Bay hired former Rutgers coach Greg Schiano.
That means Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski -- affectionately known as 'Chud' -- likely will be staying in Charlotte for at least one more season. Chudzinski interviewed for the Bucs' job -- one of three head-coaching vacancies he was considered for this offseason.
While the Panthers are happy to keep Chudzinski, who transformed the league's worst offense in 2010 into a top-10 unit, at least one member of the Bucs was disappointed to learn Chud would not be steering the ship at Raymond James Stadium.
Kellen Winslow Jr. -- who has played for Chud in college and in the NFL --at least three times said he was pulling for Chudzinski to get the job during a Thursday interview with Rich Gannon and Adam Schein of Sirius NFL Radio, according to Pro Football Talk.
“I was really hoping for coach Chudzinski, who I was with at Miami and Cleveland,” Winslow said of his former position coach.
Instead, Chud will stay with Carolina and keep the Charlotte Alumni Chapter of Miami Tight Ends intact. Chudzinski, Greg Olsen and Jeremy Shockey, who is a free agent, all played TE for the U.
So did Winslow, who perhaps can become an associate member twice a year when Tampa Bay plays the Panthers.

Thank goodness Chud is staying

I'm saying it's official now with Chud staying; just a few pieces on defense via draft and Free Agency and the Panthers are a playoff team next year! Not predicting a super season, just saying playoffs are very realistic next year. Go Panthers!

We are definitely a team to watch for next season!
Here's my early favorites

The Super Bowl isn't out of the question. The Panthers D will improve dramatically just by getting Beason back. Then once they add a few more talented pieces this D can become good again quickly. The Panthers could have won 5 more games this year if they could have held our opponents to even 21 points. That puts this years team at 11 wins. Cam will only get better. His desire to be great means he will be willing to put in the work to become great. I expect him to not only avoid the Soph slump but to actually improve on an incredible rookie year. The sky is the limit for this team if they can avoid the injury plague like they had this season.

Still don't like the fact that Chided interviewed for the Bucs. Just doesn't seem right.

Correction " Chud".

"no soup for chud", your an idiot.
T-Mac...seriously, you have the eagles at #1? I love the panthers but you put left out a lot of good teams....the pack, new england....
I wouldn't go as far as saying the panthers will make it to the playoffs, but they will be a lot closer (very posible wildcard spot). Turning the D around in 1 year might be more difficult than people think. And now that teams have seen and can study the Panther's offense their D's will adjust...just like the saints did the last game of the season.

I like No Soup for Chud. But I love stupid folks, because I feel smart around them. And I have a man-crush on Tony Romo. He's so cute when he gets hurt and screeches. And my Super Bowl prediction is that we will not see a nipple ring at half time. Dang it.

One wish box checked - Rob Chudzinski will be back for a second season with Cam Newton; hopefully Mike Shula will be as well. If the front office makes a few smart picks in the draft, we get Jon Beason back and the secondary can contain the Saints next season, the Cats may have a legitimate shot at a Division Championship. A large dos of wishful thinking, I'll admit, but that's what fans do.

i think it was a dumb move by the Bucs. one of the best ways to move up is weaken your divisional opponents. what betterr way to weaken carolina than to take chud from cam. tampa slept

Dude dude you are being a bit hard on the Cats. You make excellent points but at least give them the benefit of the doubt with the 16-10 last minute Jax Jag win for christs sake. Jeesh.
At least say the Panthers went 1-15. Lighten up a bit on them. They gotta a long long way to go we all know.

I'd say "what's new pussykat?" but don't think you could summon the courage to tell us how you really feel about the Panthers.

Pussykat that name fits you because that's what you are with stupid ass comments like that. You got too much free time on your hands. Get a life.

And if the Panthers are so irrelevant then why are you on this page smh. Don't be upset because we scored an combined 86 points on the Bucs. We've owned them for years and get used to it. And the Scam thing is old. Is that all you got pussy!
