Panthers get sixth-round comp pick
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla.
The Panthers were awarded a sixth-round compensatory pick, giving them seven total picks in next month's draft. The comp picks were announced today at the NFL owners meetings at the Breakers Resort.
The Panthers signed two free agents last year, defensive tackle Ron Edwards and kicker Olindo Mare, and lost three – quarterback Matt Moore, tight end Jeff King and cornerback Richard Marshall.
As a result, they gained the final pick in the sixth round and No. 207 overall. The Panthers will have two sixth-round picks, but none in the third: They traded their third-round selection last summer to acquire tight end Greg Olsen.

6th round picks are where superbowl teams are made. you get quality guys on minimum wage that actually turn into play makers? such a big difference.
it's also lottery odds.

Wow!!!!!! Seven picks for seven rounds. This is truly a new scenario for Hurney.

I agree with charlottean above, however, Hurney has a poor track record in draft picks outside the 1st round. Not only that, Hurney is willing to mortgage the future by trading away 1st or 2nd round picks for the current year's 2nd or 3rd round pick. Never made sense to me and it certainly has NOT worked out! I still can't believe Hurney WANTED to trade UP to the 1st round to get Clausen because he FEARED Clausen wouldn't drop to the Panthers to the 2nd round. Well, it's now clear WHY EVERY team passed on Jimmy Clausen in the 1st AND 2nd round. I'm crossing my fingers that Hurney doesn't screw things up again in the draft. Go Panthers!

Fortunately I'm pretty sure that Riviera will be making the final calls in this year's draft.

Tebow crowned king of the #1 city on earth where all the big money fame publicity is located.
And look at these backwoods pathetic sorryazz Panthers as the alltime number one rogue loser franchise on the planet who smugly passed up on most popular athlete in the world and a combo REAL QB and FB to stay rogue with the alltime biggest scammer who could be his backup like at Florida.
The loser criminal rogue franchise could have rehabed its horrific bad image where even Chud was rejected for other jobs and picking a 11 time reject named Rivera with brain damage as HC.
With Tebow as starter QB and Slop a backup/TE/WR they could have done something but then again why should Tebow lower himself to scummy criminal level to rehab some destitute eternal loser who will be spinning their wheels in the mud until they move to Los Angeles within a few yrs when JR drops dead.
2-14 deja vu

Payton tells Goodell and NFL to stick it and get alltime best motivator Parcells to take over in 2012.

To nyc new king ...
Are you f****** kidding me ? I live 10 minutes from the city and currently the ny jets and their fans have NOTHING to be proud about right now and are absolutely dumfounded at the stupidity of their franchise this offseason ..so seriously, stfu and find somewhere else to act like a retard... I'm just gonna have to go out on a whim here and say you're awkwardly jealous of Cam Newton, wish you had 1/2 of a "real" franchiser QB on your roster , and so like an idiot , take your time to come here and talk up the new FB on your roster who can't throw the ball consistently to save his life and your acting like we passed him up for Cam ? Dude good luck in life if you can't clearly see Cam Newton is a superior QB

The Jets haven't had anything to be proud of in 48 years.
Rivera will have a VERY large say into who is drafted this season. Good thing for us Panther fans.
Ah, the dreams of Stefan Lafors throwing screen passes to Eric Shelton and Jimmy Clausen throwing bombs to Dwayne Jarrett have all but slipped away, eh, Marty?

Need to trade Clausen for another 6th ASAP....someone will bite. There is no reason to keep him.

Hate to break it to you but Tebow was not in the same draft as Cam. Also, Tebow was gone before we had our first pick in that years draft. So please stop showing everyone you are a complete idiot and shut the f up!

This just blows my mind that a fan from NY would come here and troll this paper that has nothing to do with his team or his city. But I'm going to defend Newton against all the Tebow-lovers. I cannot understand why NYC New York King and others think Tebow is anywhere near the level Newton is in. Newton is most likey the best rookie to ever play the game. Newton out-played Tebow, and Tebow was in his 2nd year, while Newon was in his first. Tebow is a fad that will end in a year or two. Newton is a great player who could end up as a HOF in 10-14 years.
