Panthers bring back Jordan Senn

The Panthers spent the first part of free agency acquiring defensive players who could improve their special teams.

They have done so again, although this time it was one of their own.

The Panthers have re-signed linebacker Jordan Senn, a proven special teams player who performed well as a starter at the end of last season following injuries at linebacker.

Senn, 27, who was an unrestricted free agent, tweeted about the deal last week and the Panthers made it official Thursday on their Web site.

Senn, the smallest linebacker in the league at 5-11 and 224 pounds, started seven games in 2011 and finished with 73 tackles, including 14 in back-to-back wins against Houston and Tampa Bay in December.

Senn also recorded 11 special teams tackles, which ranked second on the team behind Jason Williams' 15.

Senn, who was undrafted out of Portland State, joined the Panthers in 2009 after he was waived by Indianapolis. He has 32 special teams stops in 36 games with the Panthers.

Did the team sign a second player named Jordan Senn or is someone just messing with me? Didn't this happen weeks ago? Right on top of things as usual.

Yeah Phillip, I think the most have signed another Jordan Senn. No way they would just mention this in the news if it had been the other Jordan this late.

You are a horrible beat writer, this is such old news at this point. Do your job Joe

Newsflash......Panthers sign high-profile free agent, Receiver Keyshawn Johnson. Sure to be the last piece needed to push the team over the hump towards their Super Bowl aspirations.

Glad he's back. Good depth at LB and good at special teams.

Guys, when it was mentioned that we re-signed Jordan Senn it was via an unofficial tweet by Jordan Senn. It was made official on Thursday. I doubt these writers expected the long wait between the signing and the official release of the signing, otherwise it would not have been reported. So calm down guys.

What I don't get are the descriptions - "a proven special teams player who performed well as a starter at the end of last season" - either Joe Person is on some good stuff, or I was on some bad stuff most of the season. I do not see what JP sees. Senn racked up a ton of tackles because no one on our d-line tackled a running back the whole year, and none of our DBs broke up a single pass all year. If this guy plays a major role on our defense, our season is shot.
