Neblett suspended 4 games for violating PED policy

Panthers defensive tackle Andre Neblett has been suspended for the first four regular-season games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Wednesday.

Neblett, a third-year player who was an undrafted free agent out of Temple in 2010, will lose $135,000 – a fourth of his salary – while serving the suspension.

A first violation of the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances triggers a four-game suspension without pay.

Neblett can participate in the team's preseason practices and games, and will be eligible to return Oct. 1 before the team's Week 5 game against Seattle.

Messages left with Neblett's agent, Tony Paige, on Thursday were not immediately returned.

The Panthers are not allowed to comment on the situation.

Neblett, 6 feet and 295 pounds, started four games last season after rookie starters Terrell McClain and Sione Fua were placed on injured reserve. Neblett finished with 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games.

Neblett is expected to be part of a rotation at defensive tackle that includes McClain, Fua, Frank Kearse and Ron Edwards, who did not play a snap last season after tearing his triceps during his first practice at training camp.

Disappointing. It's getting to the point that fans are feed up with cheating. How? Why? No sympathy from me and I always liked Neblett. Being a Panther player means something, stands for something. Neblett just threw the whole franchise under the bus. Sad, so very sad.

Let's not trash this guy too much. He was undrafted and battling to make the NFL. He was on the bubble - so he decided to cheat. I am sure most of the guys have done it too but they either did it before they could be tested (college or even high school) or just got lucky. It is very sad - I don't think he needed to cheat just to get like 10 pounds bigger but if you think most of those big guys are not doing something extra you are nuts. Very few humans get to 325 with <10% body fat without some "help"

Too bad, liked the guy. Bring back Jason Shirley.

Worst part of this from the Panther fans perspective is that now the team will use this as an excuse to start Fua or McClain.
I hope Kearse or Edwards get the playing time.
Fua and McClain are terrible.

As far as DT's, this team is snake bit. And to make it worse, Hurney made the mistake of not drafting one. Makes no sense.

@ charlesbright.

For Gods sake settle down. Don't be such a drama queen.

Let's not rush to conclusion and accuse this guy of intentionally cheating. Most of our everyday over-the-counter cold, flu, headache drugs have some of those banned substances in the NFL. In most cases that is what happens and they get the minimal suspension.

Hey SH!T4..... I mean SomeoneWithBrains, yeah I've got some ocean front property in Arizona for you too.... Come on man, do you really believe that? I'll answer that for you, yeah you do. Yeah the over-the-counter companies (especially those in the cold and flu department) are habitally loading their drugs with PERFORMANCE ENHANCING DRUGS. I love the ads we see "not only will this product knock out your cold or headache, it will build your biceps like nobody's business"... LMAO all the way at you IDIOT!

Louis murphy? did somebody get hurt? Can't see this move unless either gettis looked rough or slow to recover, or someone just got hurt.
