Panthers make roster move

The Panthers have released running back Armond Smith, claimed off waivers from Cleveland in May.

The Panthers are expected to sign linebacker David Nixon, a fifth-year linebacker from Brigham Young who participated in the team's rookie camp in May.

Nixon would be the 10th linebacker on the Panthers' 90-man roster. General manager Marty Hurney said earlier this week the team wanted to take 10 linebackers to Spartanburg.

Nixon, 27, has spent time with three teams in three years. He played in eight games last year with St. Louis, finishing with six tackles and two forced fumbles.

The Panthers report to Wofford on Friday. Their first practice is Saturday evening.

10 LB's help to take the work load off Beason and Davis .... good plan

Saw the headline and thought Armanti was finally sent packing. With Murphy on board, there's no way Armanti makes the team.

Actually Darrell, 10 LB's because Beason and Davis aren't reliable and can't be counted on for much of anything.

one injury to Beast, and he is unreliable and can't be counted on? Stick to NASCAR Fast Freddie and leave the football to those of us who have a clue.

Go Panthers!!! As fans, we need to show more support and faith at games. That means buy tickets, and don't allow opposing fans to dominate our stadium. When our defense is on the field be LOUD, not just on third downs (be loud every damn down), and for the love of god shut up when our offense is on the field. Don't leave the game early if our team is losing, because they might make a comeback and they could use our help by making noise. You paid for the ticket, might as well enjoy the entire game. As fans, lets do our part to support the team a 100%. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!

I believe Armanti could transfer to Penn State. Since he never went a real college, he should have all of his eligibility left. Armanti was never cut out for the Pros, anyways.

Oh, wait...he already took money and had an agent. Well, then he qualifies to go to Ohio State.

Bye, Bye Armanti

Camp body.

panthers should use armanti for what he is and not try to make him into something else. rather see him at 3rd QB providing a different look than clausen. groom edwards to be eventual backup to newton

If I wasn't engulfed with classes during the season in PA, I'd love to make a few games at least! Hey, Panther fans! We finally have a professional team! Try to show it a little more support than you have by leaving a game early when we are behind. It's pretty sad when Browns and Lions fans laugh at us for that.

We should signing FA Tommie Harris DT, trade one more time with the raiders. Pryor for Clausen.

Edwards would make the most sense for back up QB, use the same playbook. Trade Clausen while you can get something for him.
