Panthers sign C Mruczkowski, waive injured CB Ness
Nate Ness had impressed in the few days he was in Spartanburg, but an untimely injury led to him being waived by the Panthers Saturday.
Carolina waived the cornerback Ness and signed former San Diego Charger center Scott Mruczkowski. Ness was waived/injured.
Mruczkowski is yet another Charger picked up by Panthers head coach Ron Rivera, who was San Diego's defensive coordinator for three years. The eight-year veteran played in ten games last year and started one.
At center, the Panthers have starter Ryan Kalil and backup Jeff Byers (who's also seen time at gurad) as the top two at the position. Kalil had his foot stepped on during Friday's win against the Dolphins, and his x-rays came back negative.
Ness had been signed to seven teams since entering the league in 2009. He signed with the Panthers on Aug. 2 -- the same day on which offensive tackle Jeff Otah was released.
He performed well in his first week in training camp in Spartanburg, but he suffered a concussion in the second half of the Panthers' first preseason game against the Texans. Last week, Josh Norman emerged as a serious threat to Captain Munnerlyn's No. 2 cornerback position, and Ness' talents were in less of a demand as a result.

Go Panthers!!! As fans, we need to show more support and faith at games. That means buy tickets, and don't allow opposing fans to dominate our stadium. When our defense is on the field be LOUD, not just on third downs (be loud every damn down), and for the love of god shut up when our offense is on the field. Don't leave the game early if our team is down, because they might make a comeback and could use our help by making noise. You paid for the ticket, might as well enjoy the entire game. As fans, lets do our part to support the team 100%. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!

Man, you gotta stop posting this rant on every blog. You are right, I paid for the ticket and my PSL. If I choose not to stay for the last quarter of garbage football in the preseason, that's my right to do so. The regular season is a different story, but there is no bigger ripoff in all of sports than a ticket to a preseason NFL game. Pay full price, get 1/2 a game or less basically.

I'm sorry to see Ness go. We've kept lesser players hanging around .. I personally think he showed the kind of promise we need as a quality backup until he regains his health. significantly better than some current starters. He could have pushed for a starting position later. We seem to have hangers on at receiver and quarterback and offensive line positions. Why not a little insurance at cornerback..? GPKP !!

oh phooey. don't we have a bunch of WRs all around camp that won't be there come opening day. we could have cut one of them, our CBs need all the challenge they can get.

Carolina shister, what in the world are you talking about?? 34 million a year for CJ, that's not even close and 9 sacks a season does not qualify as laughing stock. There are also several players makin more bank than CJ.
