Panthers bench Adams after fumbles

ATLANTA

Joe Adams went from the Panthers' starting kick and punt returner to inactive.

That's what two fumbles will do.

Adams, the fourth-round pick from Arkansas, was benched after mishandling a punt and fumbling the second-half kickoff in a 36-7 loss to the Giants on Sept. 20.

Kealoha Pilares will return kicks Sunday against the Falcons. Captain Munnerlyn is expected to handle the punt returns.

Both of the Panthers' veteran linebackers – Jon Beason and Thomas Davis – are active after battling injuries. Beason has had issues with his shoulder and knee; Davis has a calf injury.

Running back Jonathan Stewart, who missed the Giants' game with a toe injury, also is active and expected to play.

The other Panthers' inactives besides Adams: QB Jimmy Clausen, S D.J. Campbell, OL Bruce Campbell, G Mike Pollak, DE Antwan Applewhite and DT Frank Kearse.

I remember a lot of fans killing Fox for benching another returner because he fumbled also. Wonder if they'll do the same to Rivera.

regarding armanti's troubles....little different. adams was an elite college return man. edwards was returning kicks for the first time probably since pop warner, if then.

he looked good today also in his 2 snaps. most impact he's had in a regular season game. that should have been pass interference. doesn't matter if it's incidental, if it interferes it interferes. only difference is if smith had stepped on the defender and fell, that wasn't the case. didn't turn out to matter though.

tough loss but a solid game. poor tackling and 2 fumbles were the downfall but tough to harp on that. there's always going to be mistakes. hard to overcome on the road.

Hey Cam hater, you're the only racist coward on this post.....move back to nawlins and your pup tent in the swamp....we don't like blowhard racists here. You sound like a KKK girlie man to me. Did you graduate third grade? Go take a bath in the swamp and hug a gator, it'll make you smell better, unfortunately it won't wash off your racism. Go Panthers! Tuff loss. In response to "Newton scams the observer".
