Smith and Beason return to practice, Stewart sits
Wide receiver Steve Smith and linebacker Jon Beason returned to the practice field on Sunday afternoon while running back Jonathan Stewart sat out.
Smith has been recovering from a foot infection that has sidelined him for nearly two weeks. Beason has not practiced since early in training camp while he nursed a hamstring injury.
"He went back to his normal practice mode--100 percent, all the time," Rivera said. "So it was a lot of fun watching Steve back on the football field."
Rivera said he believes both players will be ready for the regular season opener against Tampa Bay next Sunday.
The Panthers were not wearing pads Sunday. The two were participating in position drills before practice closed to the media.
Stewart suffered a sprained ankle late in the first half against the New York Jets last Sunday. He has not practiced with the team since his injury.
He ran inside in the pool and the treadmill. They will evaluate him through the week before giving an update on his status for Tampa Bay.
"We don't know til we see him get out here and start running around again," Rivera said.

Do you really think that any high school record is a direct link to a successful NFL career? Do you think Clauson could even be the starter with the dolphins or Jets? Clauson should have gotten cut bc he is a joke and so are you for posting this nonsense against the 3rd or 4th string defense of the Steelers. hahaha

Yo Mama, there must have been something wrong with yo mama to allow you to live in your uneducated, self absorbed, demented , crass, offensive, Claussen loving, disillusioned state. Claussen hasn't done anything worth praising since he got here. You are a perfect example of his fan base.

Go Panthers!!! As fans, we need to show more support and faith at games. That means buy tickets, and don't allow opposing fans to dominate our stadium. When our defense is on the field be LOUD, not just on third downs (be loud every damn down), and for the love of god shut up when our offense is on the field. Don't leave the game early if our team is down, because they might make a comeback and could use our help by making noise. You paid for the ticket, might as well enjoy the entire game. As fans, lets do our part to support the team 100%. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!

10-4 Why insult me by calling me a yankee? Born and raised right here in the South. Father's side traces back to Jamestown colony. Lived and worked all over North and South Carolina. Please reserve your Yankee tag for others more deserving of it..Thanks.

10-4!! Thanks for recognizing my situation. I lived in charlotte for about seven years and finally had my fill of yankees telling me how to do things the way they did them up north. Always wondered why they didn't stay there if it was so good...
Anyway , theses posts are at first difficult to determine who the poster is and I made a mistake in directing my comments toward Yo mama. I should have directed my thoughts toward "huntington beach" another yankee , for sure.. I objected to his language in this public forum. And I really don't think the Panthers should keep Clausen on the payroll , regardless how well he played in high school ..GPKP!!
