Panthers lead Dallas 7-3 with LaFell touchdown

Score: Carolina 7, Dallas 3

Scoring play: A 5-yard touchdown pass from Cam Newton to Brandon LaFell.

Drive: 10 plays, 80 yards, 4:00

Key play: On first down from midfield, Newton found LaFell on an underneath route that he's fond of. LaFell showed great speed along the sideline to beat a Dallas linebacker who had an angle and get into the next level of the defense.

Time of game: :14 in the second quarter.

Worth mentioning: Newton is well on his way to being Carolina's leading rusher in a game again. He has 64 yards on four carries already today, including a 16-yard rush on third down that got the Panthers to midfield.

Score: Dallas 3, Carolina 0

Scoring play: A 19-yard field goal by Dan Bailey.

Drive: 18 plays, 91 yards, 10:10.

Key play: Facing 3-and-4 from their own 14-yard line, Dallas was in danger of going three-and-out for a second straight time. Tony Romo found tight end Jason Witten for his second catch of the game that went for 11 yards. Witten had four catches for 29 yards on that drive.

Time of game: 14:16 in the second quarter.

Worth mentioning: The Panthers have already had two three-and-outs with great starting field position. The drive lasted more than 10 minutes, and Carolina's defense needs a breather on the sideline before heading back out.
