Garry Williams to get the start at right guard vs. Eagles
After four less-than-successful weeks with Jeff Byers starting at right guard, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera said Saturday the team will start Garry Williams for Monday night's game against Philadelphia.
Williams relieved Byers early in last Sunday's game against Tampa Bay, and he will get his second start at right guard this season and third overall this year.
Recently acquired guard Jeremy Bridges will be Williams' immediate backup while Byers will be the third option at right guard.
The offensive line has been fluid since Pro Bowl center Ryan Kalil went out for the season with a broken foot in Week 5. In the past four weeks, quarterback Cam Newton has been sacked 11 times, including a season-high seven against Denver.

Yawn...Yawn. With a 2-8 record does it even matter? I mean at this point the waterboy could play right guard. This team has been a huge dissappointment for this city. RG3, ANDREW LUCK AND RUSSEL WILSON ALL HAVE BETTER RECORDS THAN NEWTON HAS THIS YEAR AND EVEN LAST YEAR.NEWTON HAS NEVER HAD A WINNING RECORD IN THE NFL!

In case you haven't noticed the Newton hating stopped last year, find someone new to hate, you're just making yourself look silly.

Better yet, find another team to pull for. Any fan with football sense knows that it's not all about a record. Didn't Cam just beat RG3??? Yes the QB is the most important position, but he can't do it alone.

Garry Williams is starting? He should have been released a month ago! He is horrible!

Kenj, you're an idiot. Go watch something else.

When Bridges gets in football shape he will start. Hurney made some stupid decisions. Instead of signing Stew and Tolbert he should have resigned Wharton and/or signed another veteran right guard/tackle. An offense is only as good as it's offensive line (Bears and Eagles are examples of putting the money in the wrong positions). You can have pro bowl caliber players at QB, WR, TE, and RB but if you have a bad OL it won't matter.

The panthers o-line should be watching the Bucs-Falcons game and look at all the time they give their QB Freeman to throw.

Here's one to think about. Start Derek Anderson at QB, but leave Cam in as a running back since he seems to be the best rusher on this team anyway.

Any team that loses the opening coin toss 11 straight times is just plain snake bit.

I agree Cam should be a running back--he would really be great. He needs to stop wanting to be Michael Vick or Superman and be a real famous RB.
