Williams gets first start in 8 weeks

KANSAS CITY

Running back Jonathan Stewart, who has been dealing with ankle sprains to both feet, topped the list of Panthers' inactives.

Stewart, who did not make the trip to Kansas City, missed two games early in the season with a sprained right ankle. He sustained a high ankle sprain to his left foot in the second half last week at Philadelphia.

DeAngelo Williams, the team's all-time rushing leader, will make his first start since Week 5.

The rest of the Panthers' inactives: QB Jimmy Clausen, CB James Dockery, LB Doug Hogue, OL Bruce Campbell, WR David Gettis and DE Antwan Applewhite.

Rookie safety D.J. Campbell is active for just the second time this season.
