I hate Twitter. It promotes stupidity and bad spelling

I love it!

Nothing like being able to sit at home while your opponent plays for something more.

Seriously, sit down Panthers fans.

Would have loved to heard san fran tell matty ice. To get off his field what goes around comes around

Posted by: t .roberts | Jan 20, 2013 7:58:27 PM

Right on Phillip.

Panther's oughta hang a banner that says "We Should Have Beaten Atlanta Twice"....because that's all they have to show for the season.

You know it occurs to me that the Ravens franchise started one year AFTER the Panthers...

...way to go Jerry, nice management job.

Posted by: Spider S. | Jan 20, 2013 9:17:55 PM

OK T Roberts... The Ravens are not an expansion team. They are the original Cleveland Browns. They did not "start" when they moved to Baltimore.

Posted by: anonymous | Jan 20, 2013 9:26:32 PM

Atlanta has been after it since 1966 not much to show for it and by the way baltimore has been around forever they are the former cleveland browns pay attention

Posted by: t .roberts | Jan 20, 2013 9:40:41 PM

The Ravens absolutely were designated as an expansion team in 1996 by the NFL.

Phrase is any way you like but in 1996 the Ravens won 4 games, the Panthers won 12games that year and advanced to the SB...

...since 1996 the Kitty Kats have been to the playoffs 3 times in 16 seasons while playing 8 playoff games.

In the same time-frame the Ravens have been to the playoffs 9 times and played 20 playoff games and are about to play for their 2nd Super Bowl title.

Wonder why they've done so well and we have done so poorly?

Especially since we were at the top in 1996 and they were at the bottom.

Why?

If you're not panther fans, why read about the panthers? Why even take 5 minutes out of your lives to even make a comment? I bet you guys are the same fans that go all out about whatever team is winning and when they loose, you say they are so terrible. Fans like you are the worst, and frankly, the most pathetic.

Posted by: Kirby | Jan 20, 2013 11:45:50 PM

Spider...you couldn't be any more wrong. If they were considered a true "Expansion" team as you say please tell me when they held the expansion draft for them like they did for the panthers and jaguars in 1996...i will check back regularly to see what you find since you are just sooooo well versed in the NFL....

Posted by: Thisguy | Jan 21, 2013 12:25:53 AM

Spider, FYI the panthers didnt advance to the SB in 1996 they went to their only SB appearance in 2003

You guys need to follow some Panthers on Instagram. Thomas Davis posted a picture of some Falcons laughing and he started taunting them. Funny stuff.

As a Panther fan I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Falcons fall apart!!!! That was the best game of the playoffs to me!!!! LOL LOVED IT!!!!

Posted by: Big Daddy | Jan 21, 2013 10:27:25 AM

As a belove Panthers fan I am, I wanted Atlanta to win, and the only reason why I wanted them to win it all, I wanted to see their TE Tony G retired with a ring out of respect for the man. As for Ray, as much as I have respect for him, he already has a ring

To all those Falcon fans that want to down our season. Guess what you are the same place as the Panthers for the Super Bowl.
ON THE COUCH!

Posted by: Jeff | Jan 21, 2013 11:26:23 AM

There is nothing on here we can say about ATL that their own fans havent said on the AJC boards, and much worse. Glad they lost but we have problems of our own to worry about.

You are correct, I misspoke about going to the SB in 1996. In fact we came up 1 game short of the SB.

So, the Panthers were 12-4 in the regular season, 1-1 in playoffs, and had a better season than all but 2 other NFL teams.

On the other end were the Ravens, 4-12, polar opposite of us. Only 3 teams won fewer games in 1996 than the Ravens.

Since then we became the Kitty Kats...and the Ravens manned up and went to the playoffs 9 times and are on the cusp of a 2nd Super Bowl win!

Care to guess who the 3 teams were that finished worse than Ravens in 1996?

1. Falcons - 7 playoff appearances including 2 Super Bowls.
2. Saints - 5 playoff appearances including SB win!
3. Jets - 7 playoffs appearances including 2 conference championship games with lowly Mark Sanchez at QB!

Yes, the Keystone Kops known as NY Jets go to the playoff at a rate more than 2X of our beloved Kitty Kats!

This organization has all the tools at its disposal...great weather, dynamite stadium, absurdly loyal fan base, tons of cash, sycophantic local media, you name it and Jerry has it at his disposal...

...and even with all this -- we stink.

Correction, 1 SB appearance for Falcons.

'their' luck ran out.

That's just one example. Grown men making millions texting Ebonics. You don't sound hood. You sound dumb.

Mike, really is amazing isn't it? Just about all those "tweets" are written at a 1st grade level. Morons.

DJCampbell27 should wake up to the fact that he started out, outside the playoffs, and finished up outside the playoffs. #loser

Falcons are a team that is built to fail. The past three years are a clear indication of it. Mike and Spider, do us all a favor and kick rocks you bums.

Posted by: Catastrophe | Jan 22, 2013 7:35:47 AM

Castrophe, I am a panthers fan. And y u so upset wit wat I say dey be sayin? U right good. Y care?

Spider s. I'm glad you agree with me. Give that rookie a break. Go Panthers

Posted by: Mike | Jan 22, 2013 10:25:16 AM

there are teams that haven't made the playoffs or won a playoff game in decades. there are PLENTY of teams who haven't made a superbowl appearance. Plenty that haven't made conference championships in years. we made 2 conference championships in a 3 year span.

our fanbase is delusional with what success in a league of parity really is. Baltimore has had success because ray lewis has been there and been healthy. If you have a hall of famer at an impact position that is healthy year in and year out, you win. that simple. Only hall of fame caliber player we've had is steve smith and wide receiver cannot control a game the way a linebacker or QB can, and that's why it's so hard for WR's to make the HofFame to begin with.

but seriously........expectations have to be brought to earth. Rivera has failed the talent level that hurney assembled and people called for hurney's head. John fox won every year he had a healthy team and people called for his head. Delhomme posted one of the greatest w/l records for a starting QB in the NFL ever and people act like he was the worst QB we could have found. All 3 of those guys deserve statues in comparison to their peers.

and anybody complaining about our ownership situation has NO IDEA how bad ownership can be in sports and how LITTLE it has to to do with on field performance (see sacramento/seattle/okc situations in the nba, maloofs & clay bennet).

We lost the hornets who were performing great because we had a horrible owner at the end in george shinn. Only problem with the panthers these past 2 years has been coaching and free safety.
