X-rays on Newton's ribs, ankle reveal no fractures

The Panthers' season is over, so the injury update on quarterback Cam Newton is not necessarily pressing.

But any time a franchise quarterback goes down hard and is scheduled for follow-up tests, the franchise understandably has a high level of concern.

The X-rays on Newton's ribs and left ankle were negative this week, Panthers trainer Ryan Vermillion said. According to Vermillion, an X-ray and MRI exam on Newton's ankle revealed a minor high sprain.

Newton told Vermillion if the Panthers were playing this week, “he would be a full go and there is no way he would miss a game,” Vermillion said via email.

Newton left the game against the Saints for five plays Sunday after defensive lineman Turk McBride rolled up on Newton's left ankle. After getting the ankle taped, Newton returned and finished the game.

Afterward, Newton said an earlier hit injured his ribs.

Newton, 6-5 and 245 pounds, has been resilient his first two seasons. The Saints' game was the first time he had missed multiple plays due to an injury.

In other news, Rip van Winkle aka Jerry Richardson still has not awoken from his deep 1/2 season slumber to start the GM search and potential Rivera firing process.

Rivera needs to stay hiring a new coach would e disastrous as a new system would be implemented and would be another two years before w see te playoffs you seethe team functioning as a cohesive unit the biggest issues are which players we let go. Beason shoul find a new home or we should go with a 3-4 d to allow Luke and Beason to both be in the middle. Gamble and munnerlyn are coin toss players. Average at best. Our biggest issues are the offensive line and secondary. Secondary is the biggest issue in my opinion our young backs just dot have te experience but have played well down the stretch but have given up big plays and nakamura is garbage. Also the addition of one more star receiver chiefa bowe) would help cam and also Steve smith increase production. As long as we make te right moves in draft and free agency and we retain the curren coaching staff we should have a playoff run next year, even with our tough tough schedule.

You made some decent points there. I looked on the internet for more info about the issue and found most individuals will go along with your views on this website.
