Sunday NFL and Panthers links

Whether you're just waking up or getting back from church, some Sunday links to a few Panthers and NFL links to peruse before the leaders tee off at Augusta:

--Rock Hill used to be a thriving textile and mill town. Lately, it's become known for turning out NFL players. Benjamin Watson, Chris Hope and Stephon Gilmore are among a group of five Rock Hill products currently in the league. And the list is about get longer.

Tennessee WR Cordarrelle Patterson is expected to be a first-round pick this year, and South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney could be the first player selected overall in 2014.

--Utah DT Star Lotulelei saw his draft stock drop after doctors diagnosed him with a heart problem at the combine. Panthers DE Frank Alexander can relate. Alexander's combine experience last year -- it turned out to be a misdiagnosis -- headlines a Sunday notebook that includes a look at draft possibilities for the Panthers at 14, and why Cam Newton won't be in Charlotte this week for the start of offseason workouts.

--Secondary coach and Charlotte native Steve Wilks likes the competition the Panthers have created at cornerback this offseason, Bryan Strickland writes at panthers.com.
