Atlanta QB Matt Ryan is all smiles with a Luke Kuechly jersey

Who says there's no love between NFC South rivals?

Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan smiled for the camera with a blue jersey belonging to Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly in an undated photo.

Ryankuechly

The photo of Ryan and the jersey, which appears to be autographed by Kuechly, appeared on message boards during the weekend.

The two are former Boston College players, but they didn't overlap with their time at Chesnut Hill. Ryan played for Boston College from 2004-2007 while Kuechly, a three-time All-American, didn't  become an Eagle until 2009.

Ryan went 1-1 against the Panthers and Kuechly last season with pretty impressive numbers. In their Week 4 matchup, Ryan tossed for 369 yards, three touchdowns and one interception in the Falcon's come-from-behind win. Kuechly had just four tackles in what would be his final game at weakside linebacker.

In their next meeting, Ryan had 342 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception, but was up-staged by Kuechly's dominant 16-tackle performance. The rookie was named the NFC's Defensive Player of the Week after the Panthers beat Atlanta 30-20 at home.

The photo is reminiscent of two years ago when Panthers DE Charles Johnson was photographed wearing a throwback Falcons hat.

But unlike with Johnson, Dan Aykroyd was not pictured in the Matt Ryan photo.

You have to love the best QB in the NFC South not being afraid to support his school. Keep it real Mattie this year we go 16-0!

Just pretty excited hear about the Carolina panthers news.

The Falcons and Matt Ryan may have a tougher go of it, due to the changes on the Offensive Line, along with loss of Abraham. The young secondary will also cause this team to occasionally give up the big play.
The Panthers have a great opportunity to split the season series once again when they play Atlanta in 2013. If things go right, a winning record is definitely expected by this year's Carolina team.

The Falcons scare NOBODY. We have always had their number. We go 6-0 in Division this year. Book it!

Carolina is 13-23 versus the Falcons....I wouldn't say you have always had their number. It is just the opposite.

Love the comments about our 'rivalry', which isn't even nearly the Falcons' biggest in the four-team division, lmao.
