Fatigue cuts practice short for three Panthers Friday

Three Panthers cut their practice short with injuries Friday, but head coach Ron Rivera said none of the injuries will set the players back.

Starting defensive end Charles Johnson and reserve end Frank Alexander both had their backs tighten on them. Alexander went to the locker room early while Johnson took the cart up as practice wrapped up.

Wide receiver Domenik Hixon had a leg cramp on a morning in Spartanburg that seemed hotter than previous days.

"A little fatigue," Rivera said. "Yesterday was a little bit longer because of the rain delay, and this morning was a little bit steamier than we anticipated. A couple guys tightened up, and we just wanted to be careful with them and get them off their feet as soon as we can."

  • K Morgan Lineberry was excused from practice Friday while he dealt with a personal matter.
  • Carolina was working out two unidentified linemen after practice. That comes a day after the Panthers released veteran OL Geoff Hangartner
  • Edmund Kugbila (hamstring/leg), Jonathan Stewart (ankle), Jon Beason (knee) and Linden Gaydosh (back) were all sidelined Friday.

You ain't been to Sparkle City in the summer after it's rained the day before have you? Pro or not, if you're in pads and a helmet and running in 400% humidity- Hercules himself would be fatigued.

6-10

Out of shape, no leadership at all on the O-side, a weak coach, and the worst secondary in the league.

Oh boy, good times ahead. NOT

At least we have the Bobcats/Hornets.

Fatigue! Wasn't there an article recently talking about how Rivera was going on a little lighter in camp this year to make sure players were ready for the season?

Can you imagine Rivera telling Ditka he was too tired to practice? Pathetic and very telling of our players. These guys act as if they are actually too good or something. Last I checked they haven't had a winning season in years.

I don't understand why these naysayers take the time to post negative comments on this site or any other. If you can't be even remotely optimistic about the upcoming season during training camp, you are and never will be -- a real fan.

I am sitting at my cardiologist with all kinds of wires hanging off my chest and all that's on my mind is early September. Go Panthers!!!!

I hope the heart is ok Nuzzo ! Don't want you needing a new one like the Big Cat.

I like your attitude, But I gotta think a Pro is not going to come into training camp and whimp out. Panthers gotta toughen up.

I'm as optimistic about this team as anyone... if you think the secondary is that bad your clueless. Honestly do some reading. The only area of concern now is at o-line and thats basically depth!Secondary is going to be fine.
However guys just ended a practice early and had day off, no tackling. If dont want to tackle fine! Really dont know what to say. Disconcerting!

The OL is in shambles. All are question marks ;except Gross and Kalil??? Kugbila hasn't been available at all for the Panthers since they drafted him. Gettleman and Rivera have their work cut out for them but I remain optimistic. Getting into some preseason games should tell us a lot about where we are at as a team.

I'm glad I don't work with some of you whiny girls that know nothing about sports, or pretty much anything that takes place OUTSIDE.
