Zordich tears ACL, Edwards sidelined

SPARTANBURG

The Panthers had several players hurt in Friday's preseason opener, the most serious of which was a torn ACL sustained by rookie fullback Mike Zordich. The undrafted free agent from Penn State was having a good camp, but will undergo season-ending surgery, coach Ron Rivera said Sunday.

--Third-year cornerback James Dockery will undergo surgery on his broken thumb Monday, and is expected to miss a couple of weeks.

--Backup left tackle Bruce Campbell sat out Sunday with a shoulder injury; his timetable for returning is uncertain. Receivers Joe Adams (calf) and Armanti Edwards (hamstring) also were sidelined Sunday.

--Rookie guard Edmund Kugbila's injury woes continued. The fourth-round pick tried to practice for the first time since July 26, but had to go back to the training room for treatment on his hamstring. Kugbila hasn't made it through a full practice yet, including OTAs and minicamp.

That sucks SMH!
Thought we were going to get lucky with injuries this year unlike all these other teams.

Kugbila may be the new me.

Dang I hate it cause armanti is having a great camp...people are going to get injured but it seems like when one of our guys gets injuried they stay on the side line for weeks for minor stuff! I mean hixon had leg cramps and is still sidelined...geno smith turns his ankle and is practicing not a full speed but is out there. J stew been down for 7 plus months with a ankle injury. ..kugbila....a hamstring keeps a linemen out almost two months....if armanti is out two plus weeks we may need a new training staff cause these types of injuries shouldn't keep these players out this long...maybe one guy but this many. ...not with all the medicine and technology and nutrition we have today...lets hope for a speedy recovery for all these men...we gonna need you this season.

Kugbila is a bust and a total washout for this team. The sooner that they cut him...the better it will be for the team.

How can kugbila be a bust before he has played a down. There are plenty of lineman on the roster that would be cut before him but there are no available offensive linemen that are better than the 4th stringers that the panthers currently have or we would have picked them up. Teams generally don't cut the better players until the final week of pre-season so just be patient, we are 13 Mil under the cap and will pick someone up before the season starts.
