Poole, Lester among 7 Panthers signed to practice squad

The Panthers signed seven players they released Saturday to their practice squad Sunday.

Carolina signed running back Tauren Poole, who was battling with Armond Smith for the remaining running back job in the backfield. The Panthers also signed wide receivers James Shaw and Brenton Bersin.

On defense, undrafted rookie Robert Lester signed to the squad. The safety from Alabama had a strong spring but struggled early in camp. He rebounded to play well in the final exhibition games.

The Panthers also signed DE Craig Roh, DT Casey Walker and LB Ben Jacobs.

Carolina can sign one more player to fill its squad at eight players. The team could look to fill that spot with a quarterback for its scout team since the Panthers have two quarterbacks on their active roster.

Really glad we got Bersin on the practice squad. He impressed me when he was on the field. Surprised Lester was not snatched up and glad to have him too. Interested to see who that 8th player will be.

if a couple of those guys don't get signed by other teams, somebody isn't doing their scouting jobs. i find it hard to believe there's 240 or so defensive lineman better than roh.

or 120 running backs better than poole.

Off topic: This pre-season,I saw a wonderful improvement in special teams, coaching, tackling, and receivers - other than you know who. If these all continue to improve and the offense does what it does, we are in the play-offs. Make the National Experts eat crow. Gooo
Panthers.

Changing my 7-9 2013 season prediction to 6-10. I agree with Sports Illustrated as the secondary problems also no legit #2 WR ,and OL woes combined with Cam running a more conventional offense which has looked anything but good. 1st game vs Sea chickens which are 3.5 point favs I think there D holds back our Panthers enough for a 20-13 win. As there D is a better matchup with our sputtering offense. Cam's stats 300 total yds 2 int's 1 TD ,DW 78tds rushing no TD's ,
