Panthers sign C Brian Folkerts and WR Marvin McNutt
The Panthers have signed an offensive lineman and a wide receiver to take the roster spots of one injured lineman and one receiver who's no longer with the team.
As expected, the Panthers brought up center/guard Brian Folkerts from the practice squad to the team's 53-man roster after left guard Amini Silatolu torn his ACL and MCL in Sunday's game at Arizona. The team has not yet assigned him the injured reserve.
The team also signed wide receiver Marvin McNutt off the Dolphins practice squad. McNutt was an all-conference player at Iowa before Philadelphia drafted him in the sixth round of the 2012 draft. His signing comes a day after the Panthers released their No. 5 WR Armanti Edwards.
Folkerts made the 53-man roster after final cuts in the preseason as an undrafted rookie from Washburn. He was inactive for the first two games of the season and was then assigned to the practice squad. He'll provide depth in the middle of the line, while veteran Travelle Wharton is expected to take over as the starter at left guard.
The Panthers also re-signed LB Ben Jacobs to the practice squad. Carolina moved him to the 53-man roster on Saturday and released him Monday. The team also added Iowa product LB Jeff Tarpinian to the practice squad.

Welcome to Carolina, former Iowa Hawkeye star, Marvin McNutt! At least McNutt played Wide Receiver in College! 170 Receptions for the Hawkeyes for almost 3,000 yards and 28 TD's...OH, and he went to a legitimate BCS School, not some Division II school in the hills.
Buh, Bye Armanti!

Why even sign WR's if we cannot get them the football?

because maybe these can catch.

So we pickup a wr who can't make the Miami dolphins roster after we cut a wr that made the cut for the panthers.
Great job Gettlemen. Keep up shopping at the NFL thrift store so you can start shopping at Goodwill next year along with Rivera.
This whole organization needs a revamp.
Gettlemen is just as horrible as everyone else.

@MATT I am sure there is a diamond hiding on the Dolphins practice squad. Maybe someone could ask Hixon to get off the stationery bike and EARN A CHECK this year.

The Armanti Edwards release and McNutt signing was a message to LaFell. Lafell's sideline "joking around" with Cam (laughing after Rivera chewed them out) after the safety in the 3rd qrt. McNutt hass the size and speed to compete for LaFell's spot.

It really does not matter who our receivers are if we don't have a QB who can throw straight. Or think straight.
Or talk straight...

So Gettleman cut Marty Hurney's mistake, how long will it take him to ct Dave Gettleman's mistake: Dominic Hixon?

Someone get The Three Degrees a tissue! I know, just rip up an old Armanti jersey and use it as Kleenex.F
Boo freaking Hoo! Your little Mascot has left the building, never to return again! If Armanti wants to see a NFL game, he can buy a ticket, just like the rest of us. He's stolen enough money from Big Daddy Richardson. The bum made over $1 million, so here's hoping Armanti took more than a Phys Ed course at App St.
The Three Degrees...sounds like an all-male, fudge-packer country group.
