Panthers sign former St. Augustine's DE Alex Hall
After one big year in Canada, Alex Hall is coming back to North Carolina.
The former standout at Raleigh's St. Augustine's College signed with the Panthers on Friday afternoon after spending the past two seasons in the Canadian Football Leauge.
Hall, 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, finished second in the CFL last season with 16 sacks for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Tied for St. Augustine's all-time lead in career sacks, Hall was drafted by the Browns in the seventh round of the 2008 draft. He played in 32 NFL games between 2008-2010 for the Browns and Giants.
Hall will come in and compete with Wes Horton and Frank Alexander for backup roles at defensive end. Mario Addison is the team's primary backup behind Charles Johnson and Greg Hardy.

Didn't see this one coming...Never even heard of the dude. Maybe he's a player though. Gettleman has proven to have an eye for talent, so lets hope he finds a good OL, WR, and CB in the draft or before training camp.

Where did he play college ball? 250 is a little light to play DE-more like linebacker size!

Thanks Jonathan for allowing us to post in this format instead of big brother Facegod. For those of you who don't know you now have to have a facebook account and list 5 friends just to make a comment. Seems like too much information to give out just to post an innocuous comment on how you feel about your favorite team. But hey it's the internetz, what could go wrong.
The Panthers were looking to draft a DE in the later rounds according to the draft experts but it looks like that problem is solved so maybe we will pick up a third WR instead. I like Campanaro out of Wake Forest or maybe they will consider a back up a OLB such as Howard Jones out of Shepherd College. I'm really impressed with how Gettleman does so much with so little cap space.

John, thanks for mentioning that Alex played at St. Aug. He was a beast at defensive end when he played for the Falcons and I am glad to see him getting another opportunity in the NFL, especially with the Panthers. With the issues we've had at the school lately, it is good to see St. Aug get positive press. By the way, St. Aug is now a University, but I appreciate the article.

I like Panther's strategy and sometimes going for long shot. Team is coming together. Let's target some mean and nasty OL players in top of draft. Our offense needs an attitude. Hopefully the guards that were hurt last year will also bring the goods.

deepen, i always think of the scene in the movie "social network" when they are arguing whether to start selling advertising and pop-up ads and zuckerberg doesnt want to because they dont even know what the website really is yet just that its cool. now, id say he has a clear idea what it is.

My guy from the CIAA - St. Augustine University!!!! I'm Smithite from JCSU but anyone from the C.I. (CIAA) going to the NFL is a big rep for me. I knew if this guy got the opportunity he will not disappointment. This will be a great sign Panther fans believe when I say this - he'll justice for this defense. I believe he will be another AL WALLACE for this team. If anyone knows what I'm talking about they know what I mean. GREAT SIGN PANTHERS ORGANIZATION.

This is a great signing Mr. Gettleman. But now you can concentrate on the O-line in the draft. I had been reading NFL Statistics and the Panther analyst. I know we need to offensive tackles and 2 offensive guards. We also need one corner back and we need a running back because Jonathon Stewart keeps getting hurt. We need a good receiver as a kick-off return man. I had been reading Panther fan comments but as I said NFL analysis says we have a number 1 receiver in Marvin McNutt. He is a mix of Larry Fitzgerald and Randy Moss. We put him with Jericho Cotchery we have a very dangerous wide-out combo. But if we draft Adams, Cooke, or Benjamin and put one of these on the rotation with Jason Avant we have a dual threat at the wideout position. Then we can use Tiquan Underwood as the return man because he runs the 40 in 4.44. Again great signing because Hardy is only as good as the man standing next to him. Bringing in Alex Hall will prove this to Hardy. So if he leaves Carolina his numbers will fall then he will be traded or released. If I were Hardy I would take whatever money you offered within the means.

If any of you guys want to see what the panthers have at WR with McNutt and King just go to the web and type their name in.These guys will bring something special to the Panther's. McNutt can catch anything that comes in his area. All great WR's had to prove themselves at some point, its their time to showcase. Can't wait for the draft and the season too start.

WE REALLY NEED 2 RUNNING BACKS ONE THE ONE THAT KEEPS GETTING HURT CANT SEEM TO FIGURE ,THAT YOU CANNOT RUN THROUGH A 325 (DEF. TACKLE) NOT ONLY WILL YOU GET HURT IT WILL KEEP YOU HURT, AND THE OTHERONE DONT SEEMS LIKE HE MAYBE TOO INTERESTED. THE PANTHERS SEEM HELL BENT ON TRYING TO GET SOME GUY WHO WAS PRO-BOWL PLAYER 5 YEARS AGO RATHER THAN GET A PLAYER WHO IS A PRO-BOWL PLAYER NOW, AND IF ITS MONEY THAT GOING TO GET HIM ,THEN YOU MIGHT AS WELL FORGET ABOUT IT ,CAUSE mr. RICHARSON DOES DO THAT VERY WELL NOT.
