Panthers add DT Drake Nevis

The Panthers added another defensive lineman to their arsenal on Tuesday.

Carolina claimed Drake Nevis off waivers from the Jaguars Tuesday afternoon, according to the NFL transactions site.

Nevis, who was a first-team All-American at LSU, was a third-round pick by the Colts in 2011. He played two seasons in Indianapolis before going to the Chargers in 2013. He also played for the Cowboys in 2013 before Jacksonville signed him prior to the 2014 season.

The Jaguars released Nevis on Monday.

Nevis is a 6-foot-1, 310-pound tackle with one career sack in 26 appearances. He joins a stable of defensive tackles for the Panthers with Star Lotulelei, Kawann Short, Dwan Edwards, Linden Gaydosh, Casey Walker and Colin Cole.

As long he can make plays and come in cheaper, I will take that any time .Can the Panthers go after Justin Blackmon? I know he's got some package but he can play for sure....

Nevis is one of the players the Panthers SHOULD have drafted instead of Terrell McClain.
Kendrick Ellis was also selected 19 picks after McClain and has played three years for the Jets.

We are fine on O-line. We are going to be a 50/50 run pass offense. Hog Mollies up front. Tyler Stanley big back to help pound it. 2 TE sets to help pound it. Blocking WR's to pound it.
Center Jared Wheeler 6'5 319 to pound it. Byron Bell 6'5 340, LG Amini Silatolu 6'4 315, RG Edmund Kugbila 6'4 325, RT Travis Bond 6'7 330.
Chris Scott 6'4 320 can play LG too.
Nate Chandler 6'4 310 OT/OG
Trai Turner 6'3 316 RG Fast 4.96
Kali will end up being Replaced IMO.

I think we will be ok. But I'm not sure with NFC S shaping up

Duane, seriously! Kalil replaced! You mean the all pro, pro bowl center? Dude, you visit Colorado lately? What a maroon!

OL is not fine. Except for center. Bell not the answer at LT. Could not punch it in against SF last year in the playoff game. Twice.

Justin Blackmon won't be playing anywhere anytime soon. BUILDING THE DEFENSIVE LINE UP IS GOOD.

Yes we will be ok. Because we are seating in our living rooms but cam I don't know about. He has the slowest offensive line in nil history protecting him in a faster league

But i guess if Dave can get him killed this year we won't i have give him a big check next year and with the first pick in the Draft pick up a new qb
