Contract figures for Panthers rookie DE Kony Ealy
Carolina Panthers rookie defensive end Kony Ealy's four-year contract is worth $3.55 million, with $1.25 million guaranteed, according to contract figures obtained by the Observer.
Ealy, a second-round draft pick selected No. 60 overall, received a bonus of nearly $900,000 when he signed his deal last week.
Ealy has a base salary of $420,000 this year, with a cap figure of $645,000. His cap number will be $1.13 million in 2017 in the final year of the deal.
The Panthers have signed four of their six draft choices, with first-round wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin and third-round guard Trai Turner still unsigned.
Ealy could be a bargain if he plays up to the first-round grade that Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman gave him.
Defensive end has been one of the Panthers' strengths the past two seasons, but there could be changes coming.
Greg Hardy's status is clouded by pending criminal charges, and he's currently signed only through this season after receiving a franchise tag worth $13.1 million.
Charles Johnson has cap charges totaling $33.8 million the next two years, and backup defensive end Frank Alexander is suspended the first four games this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy.

No offense Joseph, but this has been out there for almost a week now. The actual figure was put out a half a week ago. How can we have a paper that puts out old news when the Panthers play here?

Give the Observer a break, they were busy recruiting for the Tar Heels. The Heels are having a hard time since they can't provide free rental cars all the time.

Looking forward to seeing what Ealy can do. Mizzou had a tough D front last year.

no story on Armanti getting picked up by the bears? I thought that was the kind of thing you guys would cut and paste and share as an "inside the panthers" exclusive.

Ealy's signing is at a good price for the Panthers - still, some of the off-field issues are clouding the outlook of the 2014 season for the Panthers.
