Gatorade unveils a sweaty Cam Newton in latest ad
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton spent much of the offseason and a good chunk of the summer rehabbing his surgically repaired ankle, with a lot of mileage logged on the underwater treadmill.
Newton's latest Gatorade commercial highlights his offseason work -- not his rehab, but a variety of sit-ups, passing drills, and work with heavy ropes and on a stationary bike, all the while sweating profusely.
Sweat is the theme of the 30-second spot that begins airing Wednesday, and then replenishing those fluids with Gatorade, naturally.
"Sweat -- it says I'm not going to settle. It means I'm not going to stop until I get what I need," Newton says in the ad. "But I'm not going to tell you how much I'm working. I'm going to show you."

Everyone who is defending Cam for wearing the Gatorade towel on his head needs to check themselves. He is getting PAID to do so. He is worse than a NASCAR driver with these endorsements. He won't ever show his face unless he is getting paid.
-Before the game all you see is his fancy Under Armor gear.
-During the game we have to look at the gatorade logo on his head and Under Armor visor
-After the game he is promoting his Belk clothing line during his press conference.
Hard to take you as a geniune person when you won't even do an interview with the local radio station unless you are promoting something. At least when NASCAR drivers do this they are doing it for their TEAM. Cam is doing it for himself.

Before we criticize, let's remember this is his profession. And he only has a 10 - 15 year window (if he's lucky) to get what he can get. I have no problem with him doing it for himself. WHO else is going to do it for him and besides that, what does he owe us anyway?

This towel thing is old. Many players use towels and Gatorade is an NFL Sponsor - little choice on towels available. Players have uniform rules and NFL officials policing the length of their socks! Let us all give up on the towel thing - if he likes it, probably goes back to HS - what is the deal. Leading your team is the leadership issue, not a towel. Does a QB's wearing baseball caps make them leaders? Seems there is only an approved cap on their head. There is a business to this whole thing and that is not a bad thing, just reality.

Nothing more feminine than a grown man spending time being concerned with how another grown man makes a living, Al from Statesville

Cam still overhyped and overrated. Just a bigger Michael Vick without the ability to see the field quickly and find a reciever. Derek Anderson looked better than him. Thats sad.
