Updated: Bell gets good news on elbow; Turner out this week

MONDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE:

The news was mixed on the MRIs received by the Panthers' offensive linemen.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said left tackle Byron Bell has a bruised elbow and will be reevaluated Wednesday, but indicated the injury wasn't as bad as feared.

Rookie right guard Trai Turner has a sprained ankle and sprained knee -- both to his left leg -- and will miss Sunday's game against Seattle. Rivera said Turner's status is week-to-week.

Also, left guard Amini Silatolu, who missed Sunday's loss at Green Bay with a strained calf, said he remains day-to-day and was uncertain whether he would play against the Seahawks.

Rivera said running back DeAngelo Williams, who has missed two games with a high ankle sprain, could return to practice Wednesday in some capacity.

The Panthers are awaiting the MRI results of two starters from their already depleted offensive line.

Left tackle Byron Bell (elbow) and right guard Trai Turner (ankle, knee) both went for MRIs on Monday morning after going down with injuries in Sunday's 38-17 loss to Green Bay.

Reserve linebacker Jason Williams (groin) also was scheduled to undergo an MRI.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera would not speculate on the severity of the injuries.

The Panthers already were without left guard Amini Silatolu, who missed Sunday's game with a strained calf.

If Silatolu remains sidelined this week, Rivera said the Panthers would activate Chris Scott, who was signed to the practice squad last week. Scott started eight games last season, but was among the final roster cuts in August.

The Panthers played a pair of undrafted rookies against the Packers as a result of the injuries. Rivera said guard Andrew Norwell played well in his first action, while tackle David Foucault bounced back after getting beaten twice.

Shameful I know middle school teams tougher than this team. Bell should be embarrassed. The defense is disgusting. Harper, Godfrey, omg Cason disgusting. Front seven good line for lingerie football league.
All of you need to look in the mirror. SMH!

FANS I NEED YOUR HELP HERE: IM NOT COMPUTER SAVEY ENOUGH TO DO THIS BUT I KNOW IT WOULD BE AN EASY TASK FOR SOMEONE, HERE`S THE DEAL:
SOMEONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO START A POLL THAT CAN BE VOTED ON AND THE NUMBERS IN PLAIN VIEW OF THE PANTHER ORGANIZATION TO MAKE ACCESSIBILE ALL CONTRACTS PER PLAYER SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND WHY WE GET NO COMPENSATION FROM PLAYERS LEAVING LIKE PEOPPERS,SMITH AND SO ON AND ALSO THE TRUTH COMES WITH IT ,WAS IT REALLY HURNEYS DOINGS. LETS HERE A RESPONSE!!!!COME ON FANS THAT WANT A WINNING FRANCHISE......

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:04:35 PM

We are being shown what an accurate qb can do to a defense, boys looks like were being taken to school today.I really wish that Men Dorsey would explain to Can how important each down is and that we won't get many opportunities.Where's the adjustments to short drop off passes so we can try to get a rythum going????? No lets waste all three downs on long or medium bowl incompletions go figure.

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:05:48 PM

Not wasting anymore of my Sunday on this lame product of a team. Just sickening.I bet Steve Smith is laughing his A.. off. WE SHOULD ATLEAST SHOW UP IN A LOSS . Coach got a fix for the jumping offside that our defensive line is causing. 10000 dollars each time you jump off sides on a hard count, Bet it would fix it.EMBARRASSING

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:06:20 PM

amn someone turned the TV back on ,If you just take a look at ball placement were Cam makes his receivers jump to catch a pass that's why were struggling ,I hope this is taken in consideration when Cams contract comes up at the end of the season. In all honesty Steve Smith is a perfect example of how a accurate qb makes receivers better . Sorry Can but the truth hurts.

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:06:49 PM

There's got to be someone available or on the practice squad that can play with aggressiveness that's hun gry and desires to win. Charles Johnson where is he??? All that money, and Hardy Money and Steve Smith money would someone please post these contracts so us fans can get a better understanding of how badly we got screwed. If Hurney is to blame for all these bogus contracts then We need to bring charges up on him deliberately sabatoging an organization for years.Hell we didn't even get wined and dinned before getting screwed.

Right now it's no ones fault but the players playing with their fing tail between their legs. This team has talent.

This is the worst up and mostly down panther team Ive seen, Coach youve been on a superbowl winning team how would Ditka react to this bunch of out of shape Olineman not doing there jobs out there and the slack ass defense ? You know as well as I know what would be done he would cuss out the whole team and make practice pure hell on this bunch of take turnes jumping offsides and not blocking or tackling misfits,There by the easiest game of the week would be on game day. GO BACK TO YOUR ROOTS COACH OLD SCHOOL THEM BACK INTO DOING THERE JOBS,THEY HAVE HAD IT TO EASY, HOW DAMN OLD IS GRAY HEADED HARPER HOW CAN HE BE THE BEST CHOICE? SOMEONE CALL THE HARD HITTING SAFETY NARUKI BACK HE ATLEST CAN HELP STOP THE RUN AND TACKLE.

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:08:08 PM

Horton has turned into a bust AKA (Mr. Hard count) off sides 5 yards. Every game he has got to play in he`s had a off sides penalty,Sometimes 2 a game .That is a discipline issue my friend,
(what we have here is a failure to communicate) He`s not listening coach, He`s ignoring you cause he keeps doing it.When your not good enough to get to the qb you have to depend on a hard count to help your slow ass I guess.Anyway these Sum-Bs need to have it pointed out to them. LET THEM GET MAD AS HELL AND CHANNEL IT TO THE WAY THEY PLAY,THE WHOLE TEAM IS TO SOFT AND NEEDS AN ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT THAT`S WAY OVER DUE. LEADERS CALL PEOPLE OUT IF THEY MISS THERE ASSIGNMENT .

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:08:40 PM

IT GOT AWAY MY ASS ,WE WERE NEVER IN IT ,SOMETHING IS WAY WRONG WITH THIS TEAM ,MOST TIMES A TEAM IS EITHER GREAT GOOD OR BAD SOMEHOW WE DONT FIT NONE OF THOSE CATAGORIES ,WE FALL INTO THE SUCK CATAGORY OR IN BETWEEN THAT AND WTF. GETTELMAN I KNOW YOU WILL SPEND EACH AND EVERY DAY DEDICATED TO FINDING THE PROBLEM AND FIXING IT . THE ONLY ALGORITHEM THAT SEEMS TO FIT IS ,WE PLAY THE WAY WE WANT TO LIKE AS IF WERE BETTING MONEY ON OUR POINTS OR SOMETHING IT JUST SEEMS OBVIOUS.ALMOST BEAT CIN. THEN A COMPLETE TURN AROUND IN gBAY. THAT MY FRIEND IS NOT GREAT GOOD OR BAD ITS LIKE I SAIDABOVE.

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:23:34 PM

I will say this much it aint Ron Rivera ,I can see he wants to win and knows how to win he just don't have the players because of the Contracts that Hurney wrote.mother words were stuck with certain players on our payroll till the contract expires, Or like Steve Smith pay him to play for another team, why didn't we try to trade him to get something in return?

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 3:32:42 PM

COACH ENOUGH OF TRYING TO SWEET TALK THEM INTO PLAYING WELL ITS TIME FOR THE BEATINGS, MAKE PRACTICE SO TOUGH AND TAKE EVERYONE OF THE PLAYERS TO FAILURE ON REPS, HITTING ,TACKLING UNTIL THEY START TELLING EACH OTHER DAMN PRACTICE IS HELL COMPARED TO PLAYING ON SUNDAY ,SUNDAYS GAME IS THE EASIEST OF THE WEEK. THEN YOU WILL HAVE WON THEM BACK AND THE WIN COLUME WILL IMPROVE, ITS A WIN WIN FOR TEAM ORGANIZATION AND FANS AND OWNER....

RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: The Kraken | Oct 20, 2014 4:18:21 PM

I have $100 that says Seattle WON'T be 3-4 after next Sunday's game-

Anybody?

Posted by: Gettlemen | Oct 20, 2014 4:19:31 PM

Rivera has got to start breaking in our rookies much slower. Turner will be an asset on our line for years to come if he stays healthy but the kid just turned 21 and Rivera is playing him every offensive snap. Let's hope it doesn't turn into a repeat like when he played Fua and MacClain at DT every play their first year and they both went down w ACL tears before the season ended.

And in other news we are winning the division with no challengers in site...

Posted by: deepenwide | Oct 20, 2014 4:56:45 PM

Will the poster that has given the name Anonymous please turn the caps locks off and stop your rant by shouting.

Posted by: Sentive Ears | Oct 20, 2014 5:02:36 PM

By my numbers, we are two wins away from clinching the division.

Posted by: FireSomebody | Oct 20, 2014 5:03:57 PM

You could have given Mitchell and Smith the money they got from Pittsburgh and Baltimore if you had released Stewart. You got rid of your standard setters of toughness on both sides of the ball and now what have you got?

Posted by: willyboy | Oct 20, 2014 5:30:41 PM

Good news. We are getting a minor league soccer team. That make anyone feel better? I thought not.

Posted by: Alex | Oct 20, 2014 6:00:33 PM

Well even if we win the division it`ll be by default,(best of the worst) in a crappy division and Tell Them What We Got for them johnny,ok 1st team eliminated in the playoffs with a public humiliation game in prime time now thats the way to be the first back to back division champs...WOW

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 6:33:31 PM

So sad but the truth of the matter is this Team has no Toughness, I challenge the entire coaching staff to have your players ready this week ,Seattle is gonna be hungry for a Win and even at home I dont see us matching up at all with them,Lets hope they don`t have there way with us like G-bay.If we get down 10 to 14 points in this one we most likely wont be able to get back in it.

Posted by: Anonymous | Oct 20, 2014 6:49:12 PM

The problem once again is our secondary. Won't tackle and can't cover are problems that haven't been cleaned up. The rest of our team is solid.

Posted by: FireSomebody | Oct 20, 2014 8:23:09 PM

They play like a bunch of (Fake, Passive, Overrated, Fonys!)
