Greg Hardy to ESPN: I can't wait to play

Greg Hardy told ESPN.com that he still wants to play this season for the Carolina Panthers.

In what appeared to be a chance run-in with an ESPN reporter who covers the Dolphins at the Miami International Airport, Hardy said he’s eager to play.

“I want to play, man," Hardy told ESPN.com in his first comments to the media since an Observer interview in Week 2 of the NFL season. "My team, you know, is losing right now. So I can't wait."

Hardy is awaiting a jury trial for his domestic violence charges stemming from a May incident with his ex-girlfriend Nicole Holder. Hardy was found guilty of assaulting and threatening to kill Holder by a district court judge in July and appealed for a jury trial immediately.

Hardy’s jury trial was originally slated for Nov. 17, but earlier this week the district attorney’s office announced it had been pushed back to early 2015 due to a crowded court docket.

Hardy has been on the commissioner’s exempt list since Week 3 of the season, collecting about $770,000 per week. The Panthers have indicated they will wait for the legal process to conclude before doing anything with Hardy.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said Thursday afternoon the team has not been in communication with the league about any possible change in Hardy’s status.

According to the report, Hardy is still in good shape.

“I train everywhere,” Hardy told ESPN in Miami, where he regularly travels for leisure and occasional rap performances.

With the NFL getiing hammered for being soft on domestic violence, Ron Rivera is a complete idiot for sayng he thinks Hardy should play. Jerry Richard was crying over it and the NFL players are making commercials about no more not speaking out domestic violence. Ron Rivera looks desperate and weak because it is no problem for him to look the other way.

Since money is fungible, one can reasonably assert that Charlotte taxpayers are paying Hardy' salary to sit.

Hardy is in Miami on leisure? Or to do Rap concerts?

Maybe Nelly should head to Philly and play DE?

This entire thing is a joke.

Should have thought about that before beating a woman....idiot. I would have cut him already.

at this point guilty or not guilty he has severed the 6 game ban and needs to be able to play. you can double ban him from the season & then again next season

You don't know the story on this one, just what you have read. All of you should know what some women will do to get money, and as a woman, I do think this was the case. Until he is proven totally guilty, you should keep those kind of comments to yourself.

@ M he has misdemeanor charges not felony charges. A player for the Cowboys killed a teammate & has since been let back on the team. she should have thought about sleeping around then coming back like nothing happened. man have feelings too just so happen the guy she hurts make a living of of knocking guys down

Why win now? Why would you want Hardy back now? Tell me do any of you true Panther fans believe we actually have a chance to win this years super bowl? Do ya really, really? Unless something has changed doesnt the team with the worst record get the best picks in the draft? Then since we all agree this season has tanked we might as well put our self in a good position for the draft next year,Am I the only panthers fan that sees this ,Please by all means reply I would like to hear people`s comments on this.Do we cripple this teams future on 2 players , 1 that should not be resigned that hast played all year and the other that has proved over and over he cant throw consistant enough to move the chains, And Im sick and tired of hearing that we need to do better on 3rd downs,BS, we need to do better on all downs that way we dont have to depend on 3rd to get us out of a hole. Oh and if this hurts someones feelings well they can kiss my A..

Ted or Smith still could not catch Cams high throws so stop making excuses ,Its accuracy and knowing how to quickly release the ball ,Its understanding pocket pressure and dropping it off quickly instead of taking a sack and hurting the team looking for a big play that`s taking way to long to develope when he could drop it off and move the chains hands down nuff said,

The only way we have a chance at the division is just about to win out the remaining games.that fiasco against NO put us 2 games back from the divsion title and honestly I do not see us winning at NO by 19 points because they beat us by 18.

Hardy has already missed a ton of games and should be allowed to play again immediately. We have violators who wear business suits who are allowed to returned to work after getting into trouble. Cut out the hypocrisy. We can have such a double standard for fairness unless it applies our personal situation.

Second chances are allowed for the other person too.

For every problem there`s a solution you just have to first find it and second be earnest about correcting it.
1st Cam, He needs to study film on Montana,Aikman,Young,Elway,Marino,Rodgers,Breeze,Manning, ect the great ones and notice while there looking quickly and going through there progressions that silent clock is ticking in there head 1 one thousand 2 one thousand 3 one thousand now time to throw or run and get rid of the ball.As for accuracy put more into how you perform instead of how you look,Do a self examination are your mechanics correct in your throw if not that could be part of the problem, I just feel if a person knows they need improvement and they practice over and over it has to eventually show.

people have to be tough as nails to be true panther fans,They are known as the 3 and out team.We hold the record of 3 and outs in the nfl so when we place bets people say who do you want for $50 Eagles or 3 and out .

Cam played better when he couldn't run that stupid read option. He is taking too many hits.

No need to panic were still in it,Look we can still finish 10-5-1 so no need to worry just look at how good we are on all sides of the ball,Look how accurate Cam throws the ball,Look how good the Defense shuts down the opposing team, There`s so many positives that we have no need to think that our back is against the wall and we need to play lights out. So with this attitude Ill assume we will continue the down hill slide,Remember everyone on the team has this attitude its all going to turn around and fix its self so no need to be concerned COACHES.

Im challenging these 4 players to see if they want to be on a winning franchise or just finish there career on a losing team!!!!!
1. Charles johnson
2. Kalil
3.Jonathan Stewart
4. Deangelo Willams

Youve all made big money since signing your contracts while the majority of your tam mates make nothing in comparance so Im challenging you 4 to sit down with gettelman and draw up new contracts for half the value that they are now so the Panthers will not be cap strapped and can hire better players so we can have a winning franchise, Its a win win for everyone you guys are already millionaires why not add a superbowl ring to that resume, Theres my challenge lets see how much desire you guys have to really be winners.........Winning,,,Winning,,,Winning
