I don't agree with Tony Stewart becoming a race track vigilante. But I understand it. Aren't you tempted to impose order in your world? I saw a guy throw a cigarette on the ground and said, are you really going to leave it there? I see able-bodied guys park in spots reserved for the handicapped and say, are you really going to park there? I get stuck behind a driver blocking the left lane on the freeway and flash my lights or honk to try to wake their conscience. We all have standards, and people that throw trash on the ground, take space to which they're not entitled or deliberately impede faster and emergency traffic don't meet mine. But what can you do? To overreact to the transgressors -- which is what Stewart does -- is worse than ignoring them. It would be great if everybody on and off the race track woke up one morning and became accountable. But I'm thinking it isn't likely to happen.
