You want to know how much racing has changed?
Lloyd Moore is a former driver now in his 90s.
He raced five years.
He won one race.
He finished in the top five 13 times.
He finished in the top 10 23 times.
His career earnings are $10,493, about the same as mine.
In 2007 dollars, however, Moore would have earned $81,405.71.
Casey Mears also has raced five years.
He, too, has one victory.
He finished in the top five 10 times.
He finished in the top 10 34 times.
His career winnings are $19,969,627.

Just like every other sport out there the money is crazy. What ruins sports is not the money but the people behind the sport like owners. Take racing, NASCAR is huge and continues to grow then you get a clown (a fat Don Rickles lookalike) like Bruton Smith who bullies a whole town and threathens to hurt their ecomony if he can't have his way. Concord should tell him Screw you old man take your ball and get out of here. If people think Steinbrenner is bad well hello BS. He has 300 million to build a new speedway, well now that Concord has caved in to him maybe he can donate a third to the Charlotte area to help out the homeless. I'm sure he would make all race fans proud if he did.
